What are pickup covers for?

"I put a bridge and a pickup cover on my Stienberger, now I can tune it....."

I don't understand, didn't the bass come in tune? Because the proverbial, potency of the POWER of the pickup covers is that you never have to tune your bass again. So, remove your pickup covers, tune the bass and re-apply your pickup covers then you will forever more bathe in the glory of the POWER of the pickup covers.
But, make sure you do this on the First Friday of the Second Sunday following the Third Thursday of the last re-airing of Dumb and Dumber 2.

"That's BS. Any pickup covers can work in any genre, it's all in your hands. Look at Will Lee- he uses metal covers, and he makes it work in everything from hard rock to jazz."

You're right, look at Will Lee and you will see the key.
Years ago Will made a pack with the proverbial, potency of the POWER of the pickup cover to be able to cross pollinate and play in all musical genres as long as he never changed his hair style.

The problem with the steinberger is that when I put the pickup covers on, after tuning it of course, I bought some vintage, Custom Shop, High Gain Torx Screws to mount them with and I have lost the Torx Driver they sent with the screws and I haven't been able to find the part number on line since then. I think they were only offered in that specific year, so now I'll have to find someone that has the Torx Driver for that year of screws for that year of pickup covers. Probably cost me a fortune on E-Bay, all though there is a guy on Craigslist that found one in his brother inlaws cousins best friends aunts girlfiends closet and is selling it for the family so that their dog can have an operation. Anyway, by the time I source this particualar TroX Driver again, I'll forget whether its righty loosey or Lefty Tighty, I'm sure, and I wouldn't want to strip the threads....:crying:

i'm here to warn you... don't buy pickup covers at guitar center, they're extremely badly lowly assy setup, i bought one and really regret what i did...
anyone with similar experiences?

Oh yeah! I just finished writing their "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" hot line. Oh, and getting back from the chiropractors, optometrist and poditrist.

There was this pimply faced kid in GC (not the chiropractors) with a zillion tatoos of pickup covers all over both arms, and down one side of his left ear. So I asked him about that. He took the saftey pin out of his nose and told me they were tats of Cast Iron Pickup covers used by Greg Willis on his bass back in the day. They were the greatest thing if you played "heavey metal". Well, I'm a jazz player;) but I have been wanting to move my sound a little more to the dark side, maybe even invent a genre. So, I bought some, on sale, $99.95. Ran right home (well, to be truthful:D I drove) and mounted those suckers.

Bad idea. They threw the ballance off of my Steinberger so badly that the neck immediately rose up and hit me in the left side of the face, breaking my sun glasses. It yanked my right shoulder to the floor, wrenching my back out, and trhe sucker landed on my foot, cutting straight through my guicci loafers and breaking my little toe. (That the part where the chiropractor and podiatrist come in)I've heard of neck dive, but this sucker practically levitated. Took 'em back to the store on my way home from the various docs and the kid just smirked at me and told me I was an idiot, those were left handed pickup covers, and anyway should never be used on a bass without at least a 42, 3/32s scale. But, he did add this piece of advice, they are just fine if you are sitting down and holding the bass in your lap. Now he tells me.:crying:

I can't believe somebody bought into that one. Tube pickups were bantered around in the early 70's as the "next big thing", but they never got it together. Went no where!....... They're still some "old hippies", high on seeds claiming their sitting on the last know ones or even the patient. ..... Forget it, give you head a shake and trust me on this one. ...... But, I like you kid. I like your spirit. .... You remind me of me before I turned into what you see here today. .... So, I'm let you in on the ground floor on this on. .... So, try to keep it under your grunge toque.
I can let you have, cheap mind you, The Brooklyn Bridge made out of pickup covers. ..... That's right, The Brooklyn Bridge. ..... But you better act fast this baby won't stay on the market for long. ......
Give me a shout.....

Oooooooohhhh....how cool! You got the new GPS water-cooled pickup covers! I've been GASsing over a set of those for the past few year since I attended the online NAMM show held on the 32nd day of December, 2003. I thought those were just a myth! Afterall, no Guitar Center employee here in Chicago seems to have ever heard of them.

How much would you be willing to part with them for? Since list was $4,300, USD, would you let them go for...say...$2,950? After all, I'm assuming they're used...I'm also assuming they're the US model. If they're from China, then maybe they're worth a tad more?

Wouldn't Covers for the Brooklyn Bridge be Bridge Vovers, not Pickup Covers?

I can see that the chords-and-score-GPS loaded pickup covers are finally reaching the puclic. How cool is that the pickup covers guide you through different chords and arrangements, offering alternative routes to get to the root note:hyper::hyper::hyper:

We will never be wrong again . Now if only they could do something about the untuned virus..... but I'm sure they will fix it in the next version

Apparenty they're going to put a sound-o-chronic dye on the next generation of covers so they change colour and display images depending on the "mood" of music you're playing; hot pink for black metal and a skull and crossbones insignia for those smooth jazz moments.

Only $129483 a pair as well, sounds like a hot deal to me :) I hope they're smooth enough for upper region chord transition...

I am sure they will allow throw in another cover for the great savings price of $50,000 just in case one gets lost or damaged
