What are you GASsing for?

I don't mean to sound pathetic, but currently I am just GASsing for a bass. Just about any bass. I think about them all day long, I dream about them at night. I have played bass since 1978 but now I've been without one the better part of two years and it. is. driving. me. crazy.

I've been so busy moving across country and starting new jobs, taking care of family, etc. the past couple years I haven't had a lot of time to mourn, but my family lost all our stuff in a flood awhile back, including all my music gear. Then I managed to score a couple of replacement basses, but I had to let them go to finance a move...well, enough of my life story.

I plan on getting one again soon, but this is killing me. I'm so desperate I almost drove to the nearest GC an hour away because I saw they had a used Johnson P-copy for $60.

A BC Rich Bich bass. They only made them for a SUPER short time in the very early 80s. They had an option to string up as 8 stringers. I love the BC Rich Bich guitar and have one of the high end reproductions they released.

Or an original Gibson Thunderbird. That would be nice too.

I draw a distinction between "GASsing" and "bass-curious". For example, I'm "bass-curious" about the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Unfortunately, I'd probably have difficulty with it's extremely flat fretboard radius. I wonder if one could mount an Aerodyne neck to it's body? (best guess = probably not)

Speaking of Aerodynes, what I've been GASsing over for a couple of years is a Candy Apple Red non-export Fender Aerodyne. Most of my basses are of the darker persuasion (black, pewter, blue-burst), so this would be great to have one that really stands out from the crowd.

I could conceivably get one with a combination of saving up and selling one or two basses, but I'm waiting for just the right deal to present itself. Who knows? Maybe one has made it's way to The States and will be put up for sale someday. So until then, I shall wait and see.

The only other thing I can think of that's not in the realm of a pipe-dream is a Roland KC350 or better. With that many watts and it's onboard mixer, it looks like it'd be perfect to use for a small jam-session where everyone can just plug into one amp and go at it. That and it'd cover all my amplification needs should I finally clear enough space to set up my Alesis DM10 electronic drum set. ("Clearing enough space" is the true pipe-dream! :banghead:)

EDIT: I forgot to mention another on my "bass-curious" list; an Ibanez Axstar. Talk about a blast from the '80s-past!

I love jazz basses and jazz basses clones (Tribby JB-2, Bacchus). I have also a skyline hollowbody. To complete my arsenal, I am now gassing for a Precision with JB neck (Maybe Lakland Skyline 44-64 Custom or G&L LB-100, however both are difficult to find in Europe), a Ray 34 CA, both for their typical sound, a Gibson midtown for its look and also because it is now at bargain price in Europe and a Fender Starcaster, because I've always dreamed of it (too bad it is not 34"). I would also consider a used Fender Japan Aerodyne AJB 110 (the one with 2 Jazz Pups and a body not made of basswood). I just have to make a bank robbery.

Take a look at the Sandberg VM4: Precision body, J-bass neck, P-bass and Musicman pickups, Glockenklang preamp
at a lower Price than an American Standard, but perfectly handcrafted made in Germany!

Charlize Theron. God as my witness, she could pass for the ol' lady's twin (Except the ol' lady is curvier & 6 ft. tall). I've always had a fetish for those, "Double your pleasure, with Double Mint Gum" commercials.
My Basses? I've been cool with the same ones since '97. Yes, you read it right...... 1997
