It's pretty convoluted, but OK. Ending's predictable given how much Kerr hates post-9/11 Americans.
Lots of obscure history that Kerr sometimes gets right and sometimes doesn't, including a brief, cautious allusion to what I refer to as "The Great Historic Unmentionable."
He also indulges in a silly game I find reaching fad proportions among writers and so distracting and irritating that if I caught a writer doing it I would whip him on the soles of his bare feet until he promised never to so much of think of it again.

I agree, it was pretty convoluted and in many ways a disappointment to me. PBK seems to have moved away from spinning a pretty good mystery yarn to using Bernie to spout ism's about topics he hates, barely disguising the opinions that are obviously his own and not true to the character.
Bongo , you are a fan of Furst, do you recommend any particular books of his as being better than others?
