Was never a fan of Flea but everyone creates their art differently and I in no way want to stop anyone from creating art the way they want to. It's not for everyone. Whatever floats your boat.
I like his playing with the RHCP, but don't really like this. However, I don't find this or anything else unusual that is done by a guy who comes on stage wearing just a sock on his c**k.
I agree, but for what exactly? That ain’t gonna sell an album, Fender gear or a vacation to Southern California.
He's trolling IMO. He's not an idiot he knows what most people expect when they hear him play.
i don't play trumpet but i know for a fact his trumpet playing is horrible so.......
was he trolling with that trumpet stuff? he did that in a stadium for crying out loud. he's not trolling

I think this is the way he really plays. Marcus, Victor, Billy, Hadrien or any legit player can jump in front of a camera and knock a demo out with a 15 second warning. I’ve seen it a million times at NAMM. This is what a true champagne can do. You don’t need to be famous to do it, just a good, competent player. All this said, Flea is not at that level and he’s not that guy.
Flea has always had time problems, unpleasant tone, questionable accompaniment skills, and difficulty making truly musical statements. He hasn’t really improved as a player over the last 35 years, either, and I've been listening since 1984. My intention in mentioning this is not to cause friction, as I’m more than aware of how popular he is. Yeah, he’s sold millions of records, but so has Kanye. I’m just reporting what I hear as an experienced and educated musician.
A player at this level can’t trip a mental switch and instantaneously start playing lyrical, soulful material with technical precision and a nice tone. It doesn’t work like that.

Who could hear the Fender, anyway? All I heard was a lot of processing. Putting a guy behind a huge pedal board and calling that an ad for the bass is kind of weird. Admittedly I didn't listen to the whole thing but, from the comments here, I doubt it got better.
Flea has sounded horrible on more than one occasion, most notably, playing the national anthem at a Laker game.
Why any company, but especially the aristocrats at Fender, would post that video, I have no idea.
His friend Koko could have done better.
No doubt - Koko was a very talented ape and wayyyyy more interesting than Flea ever was . Her vocabulary was probably , larger too than his ... Not that I'm flea bashing or anything ...LOL ... Kelly
