What Bass accessory, that doesn't already exist, needs to be invented?

I would like to see a channel-bound wooden neck with a metal fretboard. It would be one step closer to making a fretless bass sound like a fretted bass. Why Channel bound? Because I would rather run my hand along wood than just a sheet of metal. I imagine a luthier with some spare time to kill could make it happen.
That, or piezo bass saddles that individually send a signal to one output. This way, you can change pitch based on string, rather than overall input, which allows a flat A string to magically become balanced on every note up the fretboard. Like auto-tune, but for lazy bassists.

LOL...true story, it happened at a gig this past weekend. We're playing a song and my nose starts itching terribly, so I wait for when I play some hammer-ons to free up my right hand to take care of it. I go for it and move my right hand so fast I punch myself in the nose and knock my glasses to a weird angle and they stay there for the next few bars while I do the nose wiggle to try to straighten them but that didn't work so I had to free up my right hand again to straighten them out.
Didn't miss a beat, however a couple of people were video recording us with their phones at various times and I hope it wasn't on that song or it may show up on UTube.

Ok. This is when not trimming the strings comes in handy. Reach back and change the ground on your amp (if that is an option) and come up from behind...connect the excess string to the back of his neck while he is holding the Mic. The result is joyous!
Both have existed for years.
Vigier has been making fretless basses and guitars with metal fretboards for at least a decade.
There are dozens of piezo bridges that can be set up for individual string output. That's how a lot of MIDI systems work. It's sort of impractical for live work, but there are a lot of recordings with individual string effects going back at least a dozen years. Michael Manring and Victor Wooten have both done cool things with individual string panning in solo recordings.
I don't use alternate turnings, but somebody needs to invent a nut, using set screws, that you could open or tighten, depending on string gauge.
If you tune standard, you keep the nut in the center setting, then if you decide to go BEAD, you could open it to accommodate the larger gauge strings.
You could close it for someone who wants ADGC.
For tuning in 5ths, you could stagger it.

Have you tried any of these? JamKazam is the definition of "almost there". Unusable in testing on the same local network, not even worth testing cross country.
No but I have friends who have.
They are not using residential class internet pipes, rather business class optimised for real time (teleconferencing)
I was unable to get it to work without hiccups on my local (100-t wired) ethernet between the den and the living room. No reason to even try over a real pipeline. I would feel fairly confident in saying that for the overwhelming majority of musicians this tech needs more than a little development before it's ready for primetime. I have had a 15 year long string of lousy experiences with real time teleconferencing, including one last week, which makes me think that it might work, but it might not. Until I can lay down a big fat line for a guitarist to solo over with at least as much reliability as the rig at my house, it's not there yet.
