How about this - a real nice software package that would allow bands to practice when they're not together.
DI yourself in, build your sound, and mix everyone else's levels to your personal taste. Sorta like a band super-skype, ya feel?

There are already plenty of lightweight cabs - love my 25 lb 1x15's from RevSound.
Roger that. I'm using the Mesa Subway cabs. Stoopid light, but heavy sound!
I would love that, but I can't see any way around inherent delays. But man, make something like that happen and I'll bet it sells through the roof.

A unit that is a combo of a wireless transmitter and a wireless IEM receiver....strap clippable, of course.
Just posting this for the sake of the demented laugh. But I would guess that a proper MIDI bass could do this. It may not exist yet.
I am honestly surprised something like this hasn't happened. The tech is available. You'd need a servo probably, but it could be embedded in the body and connected to the tuning mechanisms though the neck (or tune at the bridge) and be programmable from a smart device. Have to counter neck dive if it was tuned at the head. But, doable, I think.

Flip phones are the only true Trekkie phone. I think they will make a come back. Too cool not to.
I'm guessing such a device would be VERY expensive. And would have to be custom made for the different types of basses and tuning knobs, etc. Probably not a good money maker from a business prospective
No doubt. But I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to do it. It probably would be easier/cheaper as an "add on" saddle/bridge system (tension on the ball end) where the mechanicals were all contained in a lower bout cavity that a manufacturer could option or a luthier could install aftermarket. Probably not cheap, though, as you said. Sure would be handy on those 90 degree-90% humidity gigs where your tuning keeps gettin' sharper and sharper and sharper....

Yeah, cheap it wouldn't be, and simpler solutions like the Hipshot lever already exist. I'll bet someone's working on it, though.
