What bass am I missing?

Wife asked me to start putting together my Christmas list and I'm thinking about adding a new bass. Nothing crazy expensive, less than $2000 certainly. But based on what I already have below, what would YOU recommend I add to my collection? New/current production only please. I couldn't imagine her looking for an old/vintage instrument lol

Custom T Shepard Passive PJ
EBMM Stingray Speical 4HH
Squire CV 60s Jazz
Sterling by MM Short Scale Stingray

Try out something with a 32"medium scale length or even a short scale 30" you won't believe what a pleasure they are to play........

I would be looking at a 5/6 String or something old school strung with flats, like an EB3 or Hofner.

That being said, you have more than enough basses to cover everything.
Could the money be better spent upgrading something else? Like your bass rig, or even spent on lessons?

I would take a MIM Pbass or MIM Jazz over a Squier personally…

Granted, a MIM Pbass is my number 1 GAS item at the moment, so take that with a grain of salt…(though for under $2k you could also get the MIA versions of a P or J)…

With that kind of budget I personally would also look at:

ESP/LTD Surveyor 87
Duff McKagan Deluxe P
Lakland Skyline 44-64 GZ
Spector NS Pulse 4
Schecter Evil Twin
Schecter Studio 4
Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass

(Yes I like Metal…) :-)

Thanks! \m/

Sandberg. They'll make you anything you want. Nothing plays better. I have two and they make it tough to play anything else. They take awhile to get, 8 or 9 months typically, but worth it.

Edit: And yes, these are production basses, it's just that they have a backlog so they build them to order with custom features.

Their Jazz bass is called a TT, and can really cop a p bass sound as well, which I find useful. You can get it with a MM pickup in the bridge position.

They make a Superlight model, bringing the weight to around 6.5 lbs, give or take. Any of their basses can be ordered as an SL, although they don't advertise it.

You can ask for anything you might want, and if they can do it, they'll give you a price for it.

Some places have them in stock, like Bass Central.

Prices will vary from 1500ish to low 2000s depending on model, options and dealer discount.

Sandbergs are awesome. Can't recommend them higher.

I bought my a Sandberg forty eight and it’s a great place to jump from the FSO stuff. Neck is great, build is great and most importantly sounds great but also really familiar. Even though it’s shaped like a thunderbird.
Check out Sandberg it’s worth it.
