What bass am I missing?

Wife asked me to start putting together my Christmas list and I'm thinking about adding a new bass. Nothing crazy expensive, less than $2000 certainly. But based on what I already have below, what would YOU recommend I add to my collection? New/current production only please. I couldn't imagine her looking for an old/vintage instrument lol

Custom T Shepard Passive PJ
EBMM Stingray Speical 4HH
Squire CV 60s Jazz
Sterling by MM Short Scale Stingray
Fretless?

That's a real first-world problem you've got there. I would encourage her to make a $2000 donation to a worthy and deserving charity in your name.

You've got Precision, Jazz, and Musicman (humbucker) covered. In my opinion if you're looking to add another tonal options, your best choices would be a Ric or a Fretless. The Tony Franklin Fretless clocks just under the $2k mark (unless recent inflation has pushed it over) and is a real joy to play and sounds great.

I love my SBMM, though I haven't used the short scale, I think it would rock! Less weight, fast neck and crunching tone. That would be my choice.

Learn 10 songs from bands or genres that are foreign to you or outside your comfort zone. Put in the work and nail them. That will expand your bass powers much more than a new instrument. You already have a great stable and no one in the audience can tell the difference anyway.

Then take the 2 grand and put it toward going on vacation with your wife.

IMHO Sandberg makes the best production basses today for tone/build quality to price ratio.

This is my most recent one and it is outstanding and just under 2 grand brand new:

This VM5 is relic'd and they do a great job with that - some folks don't like that, but I do. They also make unrelic'd versions.

If you find a good deal on a used 4 string, I'd seriously look into it.

When my wife and I went on a cruise, the bass player was using a Sandberg and I was really impressed with the sound. Obviously a lot of that was probably the player, but it was just perfect in the mix.
