Going for a Hoegaarden this evening. Love the "sharp" wheat flavor that it has. Like a Hacker Pschorr weiss, just a little smoother.

Yes, very nice beer 
I'm always so surprised with Americans, that they're so positive about Heineken. All you guys should come to Holland and drink Hertog Jan, Grolsch, Brand and Dommelsch, now those are nice Dutch pilseners
I had an evening with a few friends yesterday, had these:
Troubadour Blond. Belgian blond beer, great stuff

not tonight but at my German friends BBQ a couple of weeks ago we were packing away the Paulaner, and they sent me home with a bottle of Berliner - very nice.

I'm not a fan of Heineken at all...it smells and tastes like skunk..
I think that Heineken went through a phase here where it was popular but I think those days are long gone.Grolsch - good stuff. I have it from time to time. They sell it in the pint bottles with the resealable top - I keep the pink rubber grommets as strap locks on my basses!
me too, i have them as straplocks on all my basses (well, all 3).
and you never know when you'll lose them, which is a good reason to keep collecting them...

Not me. I really dislike Heineken, Holland, Amstel, and all those other Dutch beers that are common here in the states. Considering my heritage is a quarter Dutch (Van Mierlo), I've been looking to try some good brews that come from the motherland
Actually - Bassagent if I could defer to your expertise in Dutchism for a moment - tomorrow evening we're having my wife's ex-boss stop by with his family to visit us. He's living here but is actually a Dutch citizen - what would be a good typical Dutch beer to serve up?

I spent the summer of 2008 living in Heemstede doing work for my company. Frequenting the pubs in south Haarlem, my friends and I drank insane amounts of Hertog and Jupiler. Its pretty good for mass consumption.
One really good beer I found in Haarlem is Jopenbier. Sort of raisiny if I remember correctly.Love Holland man. So much!!
@Relic: Depends on what you want. If you want a decent pilsener (as in: Heineken, Grolsch etcetera), you could check out Brand, Hertog Jan or Grolsch. If you want something fresh or summer-ish, try to find Brand Up, Gulpener Korenwolf (similar to Hoegaarden) or Hertog Jan Primator. Want something heavy? Try Hertog Jan Karakter or Grolsch Kanon.

I got a six pack of Edmund Fitzgerald from Great Lakes Brewing Co. What a beer ! Great porter, will play Macca concert in blu-ray and drin two more

Yeah, Great Lakes makes some good stuff. If you get a chance, try some of Columbus Brewing Company's stuff. They make a great IPA. One of my top fives.
As for tonight, I've got a 6'er of Southern Tier 2X IPA chilling in the fridge for me for when I get back from taking the family to a Chinese buffet. Gonna get fat tonight!

I know it but they became interchangeable. I liked it better than hertog
It's a bit sweeter than Hertog. You might wanna try Brand if you like Jupiler.

Nope, it's Belgian. It's named after the city the company was founded and where it's still brewed
I get off work in 4 hours (hopefully). I'll either have my flawed doppelbock or an IPA. Doesn't taste very good, but I'm too cheap to dump it down the drain.

Nah, good stuff for sure. Having one right now in fact.
Hoegaarden's not bad, but a little mild for my taste. And for some reason, every time Ive had it on tap its tasted like dishwater.
