Hard to say. Most liquor distribution is state based, regrettably. There are things I can get in the next state that aren't available just across the river and vice versa.

We've got too many Belgian beers in, yes, Belgium! From regular pints to 12% special beers, available on every corner, in every night shop. I'm into Duvel and Westmalle Tripple.

Why not have this with communion instead of wine?
This sparked a memory of an article I read once. The premise was that the beverage in Jesus' cup at the last supper was more likely beer than wine. Wine was the drink of royalty, and grapes were not common in the middle east. Egypt was a major producer of grain, and also of beer. And carpenters and fishermen would be much more likely to drink beer than wine.
If it's good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!!

Ah, that I'm not sure. I've only seen 2 different types; the red labeled bottle and the blue labeled bottle. The blue label is the stuff I like. It's very dark but that's not a bad thing at all. The red is lighter in color but just as flavorful.
Wow, I need to troll through the OT forum more often it seems. Lot of good brews mentioned here, I'm a massive fan of California brewers and feel quite spoiled by what is produced here.
Just got a pack of Stone IPA yesterday, its been a few years since I had this. BIG fan of Stone but I realize that I prefer Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Bear Republic IPAs over theirs; hop aftertaste is a bit too dry and piney for me, its all about the hop but I find it a bit imbalanced in that direction. Their Cali-Belgique and Porters are absolutely awesome though.
Heading up north next Sunday and plan on going by Sierra Nevada HQ in Chico, should be a fun time. Any suggestions for stuff they only offer in house? I'm all about big hops balanced with malts, and supremely roasty dark stuff.

Yeah, I feel Stone's Ruination IPA is a bit more balanced, being higher in alcohol content. Because it's higher in alcohol, they seem to juice it up a little more to hide it, thus giving a fuller flavor. My favorite from them is Double Bastard Ale. I wish it wasn't seasonal.
Anything from Big Rock Brewery in Alberta, Canada, although their Traditional Ale is particularly scrumptious, award winning, and really hard to beat.
Must be rough. Especially the stuff that never leaves the local areas.
I'm very partial to Belgian farmhouse ales.
OTOH, I'm also very fond of strong British beers, especially old ales as well as Young's Special London Ale.
Im pretty sure that its the beer, though. I always take frozen glasses, and have only experienced this with Hoegaarden, and at a few different bars.
I've never tried Hoegaarden, so I can't say how a frozen mug would effect that particular brand, but I have gotten the dishwater taste from several other brands served in frozen glass. I'm not "pretty sure", I'm positive. Like I said, I used to tend bar and I've seen glasses go straight from the sink to the freezer and I've seen frozen dishwater float to the top of a beer.
