Tumbler was alright. I was very excited for it but it let me down (this was last year though so things might have changed).

Today I had 4 from east end brewery (excellent as always) the winners were the nunkin ale ( a pumpkin ale sans pumpkin), a berry wietbiere (pardon my misspelling) and the harvest. All very good though the harvest was my favourite.

I just finished the bomber of Yeti and I have to say that it was very good. I'd never tried this one before and it left the impression of a well crafted brew. It is strong and thick and at 70 IBU kinda bitter, but in a good way. It was fun watching it being poured into the glass. I will likely buy it again but I wouldn't want more than one at a time. Good stuff.

I think a real ale differs from a non real ale in that it is conditioned (to my knowledge, carbonated) in casks (to my knowledge, barrels) using the original yeast, and not force-carbonated etc...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

It's not necessarily that other ales are "fake" nearly as much as the term "real" would mean that it's made using more traditional processes.

Also, I just had Big rock grasshopper wheat ale. I dislike the medicinal quality that beers with wheat tend to have, but I like the slight - but not cloying - sweetness, and the slight - but not excessive - hint of lemon rind. If I were reviewing, I'd give it 4.5/5 for flavour, and 2/5 for appearance - because it had poor head retention. Smell would score a 3.5/5.

Yesterday I got a six pack of winter warmer Old Jubilation Ale from Avery Brewing Co. Really good beer, very dark browinish color with a complex taste as well, I really enjoyed it. Today I wont drink much: a Raison D'etre with lunch and a Palo Santo Marron evening just before going to bed, both from Dogfish Head.

That Palo Santo Marron is harsh and tastes bizarre to me. I am probably in the minority of beer drinkers that isn't all that impressed with Dogfish Head brews.

To me Palo Santo is something that needs to be drink slowly, take me more than an hour to finish a bottle, its like wine, I pour it in my snifter glass and drink it while reading a book, 90 minutes is great man, you dont like it neither? My favorite brewery is Great Lakes, I am sure you know them very well, I always have something from them in my fridge, right now I have Edmunf F., Elliot Ness , Burning River and Oktoberfest, love them all :hyper:

I don't think I could finish a bottle of that beer. I am not a fan of IPAs in general (I am sensitive to bitter) so that rules out most DFH beers. The Midas Touch is very novel and tasty.

Great Lakes is my favorite brewery. Their Oktoberfest is great. Ed Fitz is the greatest porter ever. And of course their is Xmas ale.

Will try the Midas Touch next week and waiting for the Xmas Ale :)
