What brand has all your loyalty?

Pretty much Wal and MusicMan. I know Fender and Gibson make some good stuff, but I generally don't trust the mass-produced stuff nearly as much. I know there's an element to that of MusicMan, but not at that same scale.

I can't say I'd ever buy a Fender or Gibson, right now. It'd be nice to have an old P bass, but I'm generally more of a new-school player in terms of my tone, and I've never heard any bass from Gibson that I'd ever find suitable for my sound or style.

I am not loyal to anything but the price being right.

But I do have an affinity for Fender and Squier instruments - I also love vintage Fender Amps.

I own a few Epiphone guitars (and one acoustic El Capitan bass) - I would like to get a vintage Gibson, but have not played a single new Gibson in the last 10 years that I have liked (played tons of great Epiphone's though).

I am really interested in working with a local builder in the Pacific West Coast to make something - but I don't have the funds for that yet. I like the thought of having something unique to me.

what company are you committed to?

None.

Of the 7 basses I own, only two are from the same company, Ibanez. Of the two Ibanez basses I own only one of them makes it onto my list of the basses I use the most. And I bought it used versus the other one which I bought new.

Of my 7 basses, not in any particular order, my favs to play are:

2019 Fender California Series Kingman V2
2012 Ibanez SRX2EX2
2000 Peavey Millennium BXP 5
1985 Epiphone Accu Bass that I equipped with an EMG GZR split P pup and controls.

--------

Amplification: I own Ampeg, GK, & Hartke.

The Ampeg hasn't been turned on in 6 months, if I could sell it today I would. It's just a combo, 100 watt BA115 v1 and although lacking in power, I got it for home and studio use, but it sounds like crap.

The GK is also a combo, a MB210-II, 350 watts @ 8 ohms, 500 watts @ 4 ohms, and it's been my gigging rig along with a Keeley compressor in the chain.

But my latest acquisition, a Hartke 410 Transporter cab(got it for $60) and a Hartke HA3500C(got it for $100), 240 watts @ 8 ohms, 350 watts @ 4 ohms. 10 band EQ, EFX snd/rtrn(my GK doesn't have this) and a balance knob for the EFX as well, and LPF & HPF controls too, has become my favorite rig. Running a Sansamp BDDI through the EFX balance set to 50/50, and then using the tube and ss preamps on the head plus some drive from the BDDI when needed, it's easy to tailor the sound anyway I want.

If any one of the manufacturers I've mentioned were going to get my loyalty in the future, it would be Hartke. Built like a brick, easy to dial in, and reminds me a lot of the old made in the USA gear I use to run by Peavey. A little on the heavy side, but that's okay. My Peavey gear was heavier.

As far as electronics, I'd have to spread that out between EMG, Tech 21(Sansamp) and Keeley.

As far as basses, I don't think that I will ever have loyalty to only one. Just too many good basses out there by different companies to limit myself to one brand, or even one style of bass.

Just gotta gotta tough it out, you will be fine.

I have spent up to 7 days in the woods- I don't need to re-create the experience at home.

Life is definitely too short for cheap beer, toilet paper and especially paper towels.

Wife would bring home the cheapest, transparent paper towels that rip anywhere except the perforation- and one would use 6 sheets vs one Bounty or premium store brand.

No thanks:D
