What did you do with your first bass?

I still have it. A 1977 Univox mapleglo Ric copy. It is a nice bass but had lousy pickups. I put in a Demarzio P-bass pickup and it sounds great. I don't gig with it, but still use it as my main practice bass at home. I've been playing for over 30 years and still have every bass I've ever owned and can't part with any of them.

Played it and hated it until it got stolen. It was a '65 P-bass.

play it everyday, use it for practices, gigs, jams, etc.
then mod it, add preamp, wristband, pick holder, thinning the neck, put off the finishing on the neck & fretboard, repaint the pickguard
and smash it

Bought a '65 P bass in '78. Traded that thing for modded '71 J bass in '83.

Still have the J bass, but man, i sure wish i held on to the '65. I'll bet its worth close to 3 grand.

mine was an 80s bc rich platinum series warlock which i loved but i sold her to a friend in 91 so i could buy a usa warlock bass i still have today. he traded it in on a usa warlock guitar the same year and still has that today. i really miss her but the usa is my most prized possesion and as much as i miss it it was worth it many times over. i love that bass like its part of me (shes up for a resto at tax time, cant wait).

A Black Dano/Silvertone w/wht binding that I traded in on a Gibson EB-0 somewhere in my distant past. After a while I came to hate that Gibson and sold it so they both became bass history. Seems I've never been really content with anything but a Jazz Bass. Old school I guess.

Mine was a Squier Bronco. It was ok to make a start, though I hadn't known it was short-scale (or anything else) when I bought it: I was advised by a guitar player who didn't know the difference. I told myself that I'd get another bass if I stuck to practice for a year..did it after 6 months. Then I loaned it and my practice amp to the son of a friend over a summer. I took the amp back after a month or two as I wanted to build it into a bookcase unit in my living room for practice. The amp is still there and gets used most days, but I never saw the bass again. The boy concentrated on Rugby.

It's a '70s? Winston EB-0 shaped bass, and played it until my ex-girlfriend tripped over a cord it was plugged into and ripped the jack out. It's currently sitting in my son's closet in pieces, waiting for the day when I fix it all up and start playing it again, and when my son is big enough (he's only four and is always trying to play my Thunderbird), he can have it assuming he still wants to play bass.

My first bass is in pieces after being on the wall, as a relic for over 20 years (it got battered and thickly painted by a bandmember).
I got the pickups rewound a couple of years ago and had them in an Ibanez EB3 for a while. Last summer I got an incomplete (no electronics) Italian hollowbody for those. The pups will be playing on that one, somewhere this year.

Sold it on ebay as a start up back for a beginner bassist with a strap, chord, picks, and dvd. Got maybe half my money back, turned around and bought a Washburn. That was about 8 years ago?

Tho im thinking about donating my older out of shape Warwick rockbass five string to the local high school.

I bought my Fender Precision in 1971 for $225 with case. It's always been with me. Each nick and scratch has a story. There was a time when it lay under my bed for about 20 years or so. I got back into music again and it is the bass I use. I recently bought (used) a Fender Jazz Aerodyne. I'm glad I kept the P Bass, sentimental I guess!

It was an Ibanez from a starter pack. I gave it away to the son of a good friend who wanted to learn how to play. I think he still has it, he's in graduate school now.

I had a random fender starter bass, precision style! Hated it. Still do to this day and it's currently in the attic collecting a lot of dust. Would like to do something whacky to it but no idea what to do!
