‘My whole library is wiped out’. Ah well. Good Sense and Reason should be the name of a blockbuster movie. If it were, how long might it last, today? Are they still doing LaserDiscs?

In the age of VHS, DVDs and Blu-ray, when someone bought a movie from a store, it was theirs for as long as it was playable. And even in the digital era before streaming, people could – and generally still can – buy files of movies, TV shows and music. Barring the digital rights management locks some companies placed on those files, you could generally continue to play them for as long as you had a player that could read them.

Now firmly in the streaming age, ownership is largely subject to the terms and conditions people often do not read …

Now there's a thought. Read into it whatever you like. Reading is the name of our local cinema complex. It's a sign, quite likely.

To be a blockbuster, the majority of the movie-going public would have to want to see something featuring such qualities.

Far too often, we have seen that they don't.

BOM moves to 'La Niña watch' as ocean heat at record high for a year straight.​

'A year straight.' Let's get this straight. Something's bent. And there's an icy upwelling in the offing, underwater.

Meteorologists are watching a large mass of abnormally cool water lurking around 50 to 150 metres below the surface of the tropical Pacific Ocean.

With further upwelling of this cold water likely during the coming weeks and months, falling sea surface temperatures could rapidly tip the Pacific into a full-blown La Niña state by mid-winter.

Exactly how many Animals cause human deaths in Australia?
It not what you’d think.

Here are the animals REALLY most likely to kill you in Australia - Australian Geographic

Of the 254 confirmed and reported animal-related deaths during that 10-year period, horses, cows and dogs were the most frequent culprits, accounting for 137 deaths.

Horses (including ponies and donkeys) were the most ‘deadly’ animal in Australia, causing 77 deaths in 10 years, mostly related to falls. Cows (including bulls and cattle/bovine) accounted for 33 deaths – 16 by causing motor vehicle accidents, the rest by crushing, piercing or ‘unknown’. The majority of the 27 deaths caused by the third biggest killer, dogs, were from attacks, with those deaths mostly occurring in children under four years old and in elderly people.

Next up was our beloved kangaroo, which (indirectly) caused the deaths of 18 Australians from 2000-10 (mostly related to car accidents), followed by bees which killed as many people as sharks (16 each). Only at seventh and eighth place on the list do we encounter the notorious snakes (14 fatalities) and crocodiles (9 fatalities), followed by emus which caused 5 deaths, all indirectly from motor vehicle accidents.

Other deadly animals included fish, sheep, goats, camels, cats and jellyfish, which caused 39 deaths combined.

Almost three-quarters of victims were male and most of the deaths occurred either on public roads, in the home and on farms.

Just remember, louder is not by default better. I love me some HD lope at idle, but at the heart of that sound is 1912 technology. It allows a slimmer profile than an offset crankshaft, but two rods sharing a common crank pin in a multi piece crankshaft is why 50K miles is considered high mileage, not to mention the valve guide eating offset rocker design. Don't know if those carried over to the blockhead as the shovelhead was the last HD engine I opened up.
Oddly enough I've been eyeing old shovelheads with bad intent lately, but I'm looking for something I can spend a couple years dolling up until it shines like a diamond in a goat's annular orifice, so I can take short rides on nice sunny Sunday mornings when most folks in my neck of the woods are getting their weekly soul cleansing and the roads are mostly clear.
