So, cutting to the chase, today silly old me learnt something — shock horror. Secret sauces,​

Turns out, it's common to be dieting on sodium aluminosilicate, and other dubious delights.

Not a good idea just quietly.

In the galley here these days I'm big on rock salt, sometimes iodized, which I'll grind as I go. No need for an anti-caking agent And, if this is common practice, and Alzheimers has made itself known in your realm, you can potentially double your salary by steering clear of the silly dolt salt.

There was a Zebra label printer at work that was only printing 3 characters on the left side of the label.
I would have thought it was the print head, failing that, the labels might have been bad.
But after making sure there was nothing obstructing the print head and using a roll of known, good labels, we swapped the machine out and it STILL did it.

After dicking with it for really hours... we swapped out the power supply and THAT was it.

Earlier we had just replaced the printer, as it was work crawling under the desk and getting the cable routed up... I would not have thought a bad power supply would do that...

Yesterday I learned (yet again) that hard work and dedication are often rewarded with more trouble than was fixed by the hard work and dedication. I wouldn’t say I’m about to throw up my hands and tell mankind (yet again) to sod off, but the desire is strong and is so far winning the struggle between reverting to the old ways or continuing to hope the promise of a better day tomorrow is more than some smarmy, made up Hallmark sentiment.

I wouldn’t say I’m about to throw up my hands and tell mankind (yet again) to sod off, but the desire is strong and is so far winning the struggle between reverting to the old ways or continuing to hope the promise of a better day tomorrow is more than some smarmy, made up Hallmark sentiment.

Hard work and dedication pay off in the long run. But laziness and indifference pays off immediately.

I would agree with you regarding employment, and even that depends on the particular work environment. But in every other aspect of my life, hard work and dedication have always been positively rewarded.

And it usually is in my life but I’ve had an unusually odd run of late where everything I touch turns to poopie. Didn’t mean to be such a downer, just dealing with a high frustration factor for a couple months now.

Man... to think, all those years I played in church, I just used whatever sounded good. I never even gave a thought to the blasphemy I was apparently committing against marketing departments.

Sorry, not mocking you at all, Tom; Just the sales-driven over-specialization I hadn't realized had crept into freaking cymbals.

Guess that's something I learned today.

Heh! Nice! Looks like a good match in size for the TARDIS USB hub I got eons ago.

This was solidly in the USB 2.0 era, so it would be considered slow as xmas these days, but hey, the light flashed when it was moving 1's & 0's, so what else could a geeky guy want!
