I learned that "Whinging" is a real (British slang) word and not a misspelling of "Whining".

I learned something I already knew, but seem to relearn on a regular basis. Straight forward operations are not ever straight forward. McGuyver is your friend. As long as it works, nobody will ever check to see how it works, and that's good.

I once did a "temporary" fix on my motorbike with a piece of plastic ice cream lid to prevent water getting into the front cylinder and shorting the spark. It worked perfectly and I never had the problem again. I had planned to do a better looking fix with a nice piece of chrome sheet metal. The ice cream container was still on it 10 years later when I wrote the bike off in a crash.
