What did you learn today?

Baby boomers: 1946 - 1964.

George Harrison (youngest Beatle) b1943

Therefore: Beatles not = boomers.

Ronnie Woods (youngest Stone - you can quibble, since he's isn't an original member) b1947 (everyone else b1943 or earlier)

Ergo: Stones mostly not = boomers.

Jimmy Page (oldest Zep) b1944 (everyone else b1946 or later)

Consequently: Zeplin mostly = boomers.

In the 1960s, in some circles, it was thought that it might be better to put objects into space with really big guns instead of rockets:

"The High Altitude Research Program (HARP) was unique in the history of the space age. For the first time in history a serious attempt was made to use cannons in place of rockets to explore earth's upper atmosphere and to try to launch satellites."

A Brief History of the HARP Project

I learned that just one short moment of 'inattentive' is Freakin Stupid Scary!!
I saw the biggun closing on my side...braced for the air foil push.
I failed to rregister the Peterbuilt on my right until he filled up the passenger side window.
Air.Was.Tossed.
We escaped unscathed.

I learned today that the largest cash gift you can award to one of your kids without having to pay taxes on it is $14,000.00. Thanks mom!

P.S. The vast majority of which will be going to a new IRA for my daughter's post high school education.
IRS:

What can be excluded from gifts?
The general rule is that any gift is a taxable gift. However, there are many exceptions to this rule. Generally, the following gifts are not taxable gifts.
1) Gifts that are not more than the annual exclusion for the calendar year.
2) Tuition or medical expenses you pay for someone (the educational and medical exclusions).
3) Gifts to your spouse.
4) Gifts to a political organization for its use.
5) In addition to this, gifts to qualifying charities are deductible from the value of the gift(s) made.
