Bertlemann slide, or bert, is a skateboarding trick where the skateboarder slides on the wheels of his skateboard. A bert is usually performed on banks or transitions.

When performing a bert the skateboarder crouches down while doing a frontside carve, plants his front hand on the ground and extends his back foot and torso making the back wheels slide out. After the slide the skateboard has made a 180 degree sweeping turn and the skateboarder pushes himself up and continues back to the direction where he came from. When performed in a transition it is possible to convert a bertlemann slide in to a grind by timing the slide so that during the apex of the sweep the back truck hits the coping.

A bertlemann was originally a simple turn planted hand that did not involve sliding. It was named after Larry Bertlemann, a surfer who first performed the trick on a surfboard, by the Z-Boys, who imitated Bertlemann's style on skateboards and ended up creating this trick

I'm 47 and still like to skateboard but all my tricks are 30+ years old. I can still lay down the berts though! Toe and heel side! :p

My story is simple - I try to use the same name on other sites. I started using my current name because my first intial/last name was taken when I tried to register on a website forum years ago. I needed to come up with something quickly and I was eating a bag of salt and cracked pepper flavored potato chips. Hence the name, CrackedPepper.

It was a nickname given to me years ago when I was a union rep/autoworker. I was the mean guy that was always throwing things and getting p-o'd

Myron O'Connell ended up giving me the name Raging Rog, and it's been my user name on my fantasy team and bass websites.

I have a 1967 Land Rover, and that's the username the people from the Rover sites know me. It's just easy to keep using it on all the websites.
