What happened to Hadrien Feraud?!

just to appease those who launch some ridiculous and fanciful hypotheses concerning my departure from John McL .
I broke the middle finger of my left hand in the morning I should join John and the group in Monaco just before the spring European tour ...!
It was a hard blow for all ...
After many phone calls to find a bass player , Dominique Di Piazza was the one who was available , I flew with my broken finger to join the group , to rehearse the show with Dominique and also meet with a surgeon specialist in broken fingers , a friend of John ...
I Had to stop to play for 3 months ...
the fact that I played too loud , too fast , too bad , too much .... etc , are just stupid things for those willing to listen .
Etienne was programmed in the group for the following year ...he came earlyer than expected ...

PS : Hey III-X , next time when you want to know something about me to spread the news on all the forums of the world ...just ask me and I'll tell you what is right . This will prevent you to tell everything and anything , thank you . :D

Hadrian Thanks for setting things straight. Although you did not have to. Your playing says it all. Thanks for the Melody.

Great, perhaps you can shed some light on why John McLaughlin is saying this:

JM: I’ve known Etienne for about eight years now. I first saw him with Zawinul’s Syndicate in Nice, and we became friends at that moment. He’s a wonderful musician and human being. About two years ago we were beginning a European tour, and the day before the first gig Hadrien Feraud arrived with a broken hand. Only Dominique DiPiazza was capable of coming in on 24 hours notice, and he sweated!!! But he came through with flying colors.

Prior to this tour, I’d had words with Hadrien about his volume on stage, which was excessive. I’d actually had many words with him about his volume which unfortunately, he seemed unable to change.

Several months later we had a gig in Switzerland on the opening day of the Olympics in Beijing. The gig was a free concert for the Tibetan people with whom my wife and I are associated. Hadrien was healthy, and aware that this was a kind of “test” concert. Unfortunately the volume was way over the top, and shortly after I just had to let him go. Dominique has quite a career going for himself, and it was clear that I should find another bassist. I called Etienne and he was in. The rest is history, as they say.

Lastly, perhaps you can explain to musicians that see you as a role model and are following your career closely why one would not follow the directions of someone that has hired you.

Meeen !!! :D

Let me remind you that JML is a kind of english guy, we are french, history between our countries hasn't been everytime well, our rugby matchs are called "the crunch" everytime we meet ourselves...

Ok I'm teasing.... :D

Talking about what didn't suit JML (i.e Hadrien's volume), I think it's a kind of oranges and apples ... everyone has his own perception and sensitivity.

Did Chick Corea say the same? I let you search... Does Bireli complain ?

Yep... this is history, oranges and apples... and I think both of them have enough work not to complain about this.

Laisse tomber Hadrien, JML et toi vous avez assez à faire et vous le faites tous les deux très bien ;) tu as ton volume, JML ses oreilles, chacun sa perception des choses....

Now about all the great bass players JML had on his projects, do anyone still have "The heart of things" in his "jukebox" (90's CD and tour with Dennis Chambers) ? To me, Matt Garrison's sounds is really, really down mixed.

But....hey, that's only my ears ... ok guys ?? ;)

good to see hadrien is keeping up with lots of different artist these days.
cant understand some of the negative atmosphere here...its just music...artists evolve, play in different bands and move on..
i have to agree with Kwesi... for me HF is one of the most talented bassists to come along and for me some of his stuff is a revelation... his playing is unique and i can instantly recognize its him by listening to just a few notes.. (just like u can with jamerson, jaco, marcus miller, di piazza, carles benavent, m. garrison etc.)...it cant be denied that you can already hear his influence on many young players like Dane Alderson, evan marien etc...
personally i am looking forward to hearing more of HF for decades to come :)

Fixed...;)

I think it happen only good things to Hadrien ..

He's back in Europ since one months and always so busy everywhere and in very good musicians company ...

It is very surprising and so strange to me to read that people are still in the process of talking about things from the past and dead for many years!

Talking about John's M L experience ... ! Why ? Detective investigation ?? very misplaced curiosity ? what does it bring to you ?

A look at the future seems so better suited rather than unnecessary repetition ...

That is only my opinion ...ok ?

Here are some very recent links of a jazz festival concert with Jean Luc Ponty . That was the 16th of august in Nisville Serbia

Enjoy .

Hadrien, believe me there is nothing I need to know or want to know about you.

Nothing at all.

If you have any other issues with me let me know. Private, open forum or in person.

Just being a quiet observer of this thread for some time now.
ANYTIME, someone makes a comment about Hadrien you make a snide comment. Its almost like he hurt you personally with the way you respond to anything Hadrien. Literally trolling.

There is great Bass players, there are bad bass players, there are thousands upon thousand of players. But only this guy brings the bitch out of you. Its been a bizarre read. Then again, the internet brings upon many Arm chair QBs. :hmm:

I'm amazed at how the people that aren't telling lies are being attacked in this thread. I guess the truth doesn't matter.

Some people have been quiet harsh to Hadrien though havent they? for no reason..? yes something's may be facts, but they have been stated in a nasty manner.. i dont get it either..

What was harsh? Talking about him getting fired? Pointing out how his story about gettinng fired differs from that of who fired him?

If it were me I would have explained that yes I acted in a manner that got me fired, and realized that my behavior was not consistent with being a professional, so that those that aren't aware of what is expected of them don't make the same mistake.

Note: You're the one that brought up the issue of him being fired.
