What happened to the 62-63 Shell Pink JB Thread?

In a nutshell, the guy revealed info that may or may not have called into question the legitimacy of his ownership of said bass. TBers put the screws on him and he swore off posting. I'm guessing mods took it down due to the legal ramifications?

There was some serious legal stuff going on in that thread that just doesn't have a place here due to the possible ramifications.

Edit: I only made it to about page 11, and it was a 20+ page thread.

+1. It turned into a thread about morals and homeowners/renters law vs. is this bass all original.

I read the entire thing as I just got home from a killer gig and I was wired and couldn't sleep.

The OP IMed me and he is a good dude..... Pretty cool bass and I hope he gets to retain it....

OH..ok. I didn't read the whole thing...only the posts with the pictures. I wanted to see the neck pocket pix.

From what I gather here, it was a homeowner who took possession of the bass from a renter and was trying get information on it. Sigh...I saw the natural checking on the paint job and said wow! Too bad.

Just a complete (some of you will read it as "immoral") bonehead move on his part, coming here with something like that. He awoke the sleeping, giant spectre of Dudley Do-Right in it's most vile manifestation: the internet. I'd pity the guy if his story didn't sound too backed up by what he thought were bullet proof facts. On the other hand, if he is legit, I hope he scores big on this. Winner wins. Loser loses.

EDIT: Looking at that last pic, that truss rod nut sure looks shiny, don't it?

This misinterpretation shows just what a game of telephone the thread as a whole was. The OP wasn't a homeowner, he didn't live in Nebraska, and taking his story at face value I don't believe he had a legal worry in the world.

I wish there would be a closing chapter for us, but I'm not holding my breath.

A lot of jealousy struck that thread and people started coming up with ideas/reasons why the OP committed some sort of heinous crime.

I honestly saw that thread when it had 8 posts in the morning on Saturday, and about 12 hours later it was up to 21 pages or something of people bashing the dude for finding a treasure.

Jealousy is bad enough. Internet jealousy is way worse.

In the end it doesn't matter. The pictures were of a beautiful looking bass. The Mods didn't like the thread and took it down. A picture posted in this thread has been removed. First amendment be damned.
