What is the longest...

My 2011 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe. It plays great and sounds great. There is also sentimental value because my wife bought it for me for Valentine's Day 2011. It's the one bass I will never sell.

Talk about "The Sweeeeet Spot." You have IT, My friend. Congrats on the bass, and... the Woman!!!

I get it. My only NON MIA Fender, is My MIM Jazz. Upgraded with DiMarzios, Hipshot 24:1 tuners. High Mass Fender bridge, and Black Pickup cover. All done behind my back for Christmas, 5 years ago... by My better half.

carvin XB76... bought new around 2006 or so, sold around 2012 or so... could be way off on those years though...

don't really buy anything new, so thats my only example. I still own my first bass, but it was bought used at GC (USA fender p/j from early 90s)

In 1971, at the ripe age of 17, I bought (well, my dad paid for it) a brand new Precision fretless rosewood. It has a early 80’s Dimarzio Jazz pup, and once had a 65 fretted neck on it, but I’m now using it fretless with this Latin/rock band I’ve been playing with.

Of my 20 some basses only 3 have been purchased new. All others have been used. It's pretty much over an hour drive to any stores that sell a variety of new brands. Hence, I am a pawn shop picker.

My new basses are an SX Jazz copy, a Yamaha from Guitar Center, and a Squire VM Jaguar. The SX and the Yamaha are fine instruments. The Jaguar I'm not sure of; had I played it before buying , I may have passed on it. I know they get great reviews but I prefer something with heavy thump and so far have not been able to get that sound from it. All of my other basses I have played before buying and I am happy with them.

My oldest instrument is the Silvertone Espanada guitar my Grandmother bought for me in 1957. It's a hollow body ES175 copy; I really wanted a solid body guitar like a Stratocaster, but this is what was available at the time. I have since come to appreciate this guitar far more than any solid body I would gotten and will never sell it.

Thump on,

One_Dude

amount of time that You have been the SINGLE owner of a bass that You purchased NEW?

1982 Gibson Victory, Standard. Got in '82. My first bass. Still have.
1986 Kubicki, EX-Factor. Got in '87. Still have.
1988 Spector, NS2-A. Got in '89. Still have.
'96 G&L L2000 Fretless, copped in December of '96. Still unmolested and a great player!! Also an '05 G&L L2500 (special ordered in Dec '05 from Bass Central but it didn't arrive until Feb or Mar of '06) I love the bass but I did change the factory pre to an Aquilar OBP-3 about 3 yrs ago and then about 2 months ago converted it to E-A-D-G-C tuning. Sounds great in the upper register!)
