What is your dream bass?

I think I’d have to say it’s an EBMM StingRay 4H, black with maple. My #1 bass is a SBMM Ray5 BnM (the $399 one), and while I really enjoy it, if I could spend the money on an EB, this would be it. The real deal.

I still love a J and a P, but the SBMM I own has ruined me for passive basses. Ray for the win!

My other dream bass is a modified '76 Rickenbacker in jetglo. It has two Carvin 22 pole pickups, a BadAss bridge, and a custom pickguard with no onboard controls, that's textured acrylic with a mirror backing that looks like a swimming pool when the light shines on it.

It was stolen from me in the 80's/90's.

I have just seen there is soon going to be an Ibanez AGB200 in Black satin finish.. if i sell my Sire P5 and Squier Mini P, it might be within reach ...
I'll have mine with nylon tapewounds & a hardcase, please...

Dream Bass? I suppose it would be an Alembic Series I four-string with 32" scale length, small standard body, ebony stringers, elbow- and tummy-bevels, and yet miraculously has no neck dive and weighs less than 8lbs.

Yeah, "in yer dreams!" right?

I like the Alembic EVH with cocobolo top/back, six string unlined fretless!

My "Dream" Bass"? To be perfectly honest - I don't have one. For years, I wanted a 4001 Rickenbacker like the one I learned to play on - in 1968; but I wouldn't call it my "Dream Bass". I had several other, very nice basses before I found a left handed 4001 to buy...
What I do have, is a list of 21 basses that I really, really wanted. As of today, I have all but 2 of them - and I ordered one of those last month. Technically, the other spot is filled - with a cheap, almost unplayable Chinese violin bass. I'm of 2 minds as to whether I should spend the money to replace it. I actually have 26 basses at the moment; having one of the "Herd" spots filled by a junk bass seems pretty irrelevant at this point. But, there's a really nice looking - and sounding - Guild bass that's very tempting... In any case, I do have a #1, "go-to" bass. It's my beat up, played-to-near-death '73 Rick 4001. But, "Dream Bass"? Well, it's not that; I'd say that it's more like the "Alpha Bass", out of a pack of basses that I really like a whole lot...:cool:
