I know this one place in town that makes a mouthwatering blueberry donut. And of course you have to have a chocolate milk with it. I try not to walk over that way much when its their business hours. They have odd hours, 4am-12pm.

Back when I could eat stuff like donuts, it would have been a fresh bear claw.

i love fresh yeast donuts --- a good ol' standby --- but i'm a sucker for raspberry-filled donuts.

I don't think I've had a donut since I retired from my day gig back in 2015. They were a very guilty pleasure back then, and sometimes the ONLY pleasure of a work day. Back then, Boston creams and apple fritters were my go-to.
There was a small (very small) independent donut shop in the tiny town where I grew up eons ago, and everything they made was good. It's long gone though, and the only donut places I see any more are franchises of the two major chains; Krispy Kreme, and the recently-wish-they-were-Starbucks-re-branded "Dunkin." Do they even still have donuts any more? They don't seem to want to mention it to anyone if they do, and I wouldn't know anyway, because Krispy Kreme > Dunkin.

When I was a very active teenager with a very fast and efficient metabolism, I could get away with that! Nowadays, it's two donuts max.
I don’t like to discriminate. The donut I have in my hand is my favorite donut.

Glazed with fluted popover style dough was always a favorite , but my local place closed many years ago and now the closest I can get locally is a $$$ chocolate croissant from across the river, made by a Hungarian pastry chef who schooled in The Netherlands and had a cruise ship gig for a few years. Only open three days a week, and she’s always sold out by noon or so. I could hit the old place after I got off work right across the street at 2-3AM for fresh bagels, man do I mss that joint!
I don't like donuts enough to even seek out what/where the local donut shop is, and I've been living here for >4 years.
But if I had a hankering for a donut I'd probably run down to the nearest Dunkin' Donuts and get one -- or three -- of their French Crullers.

It was always an apple fritter, which I found to be the best at a nearby Winchell's, but when I found I was lactose intolerant 25 years ago, no more. Then my twin brother was told about a vegan doughnut shop in Downtown Los Angeles, he and his wife went there and brought me an apple fritter. It was as good as any I've ever had.
Many moons ago, whilst tent camping on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, my wife and I stumbled upon a pack of Krispy Kreme Key Lime Pie donuts. Those were pretty darn good, too. That was the ONLY time I've ever seen or had them, and we've looked for them in every subsequent OBX trip.
