What is your favorite old video game?

always preferred perfect dark

Perfect dark sucked once the aliens popped up. The only truly great level was the first. And MP was not as good as Goldeneye.

Also the frame rate was absolutely atrocious. I liked it enough but it was still a pretty big disappointment compared to Goldeneye. All these years later the only game of the two i have fond memories of is Goldeneye. I often tend to forget i even owned PD. I cant even remember how it ended.

I still quote the dialogue of the two nitwits trying to figure out how the rocket launcher works in that first level. That was f'n funny.

I remember the MP in Perfect Dark was pretty deep. And bots too. I thought it was great.

Wait i think i might be confused. Was the first level the one where you had to save the negotiator? ("ive got to be quick or they'll kill the negotiator") Maybe that was the second level.

The main reason why i didnt like PD mp as much was because you couldn't set the handicap the way me and my brother liked it where one shot to the chest would kill you unless you had a BP vest. A shot to the head always killed and i think legs or arms was at least two bullets. We were so used to play this way and thought it the most fun but while i don't remember the details exactly, i know we couldn't set it to be like this in PD.

We were such Goldeneye nerds we made a screen splitter for our tv so you couldn't see in anyone elses screen. It was just pieces of cardboards shaped into a + that we stuck to the tv and hung on the ceiling. You could remove the vertical part when it was just two players so it was just split horizontally. Of course you still had to sit a certain way. If you were the lower screen, sit on the floor, the upper screen, on the back of the couch. It was perfect though. Even if i had to adjust at first because my best skill had been keeping track of where everyone was at a glance and knowing exactly where they were in relation to me. Once the splitter came about, i had to rely completely on shooting skills.

I can't imagine Goldeneye without screen watching.....

Well... it was like any MP shooter nowadays.

It was an improvement. and turns out i was still the best :-p (well among me and my friends, i still would have liked to enter a goldeneye competition if that ever existed, i think this is the only game i ever played i might have had a decent shot at. I never had such near perfect aim in any game since... there was just something about the shooting mechanics in this game... )

yeah, the last few levels were definitely atrocious, but I found the multiplayer far superior provided you had the N64 xpac and I noticed more framerate issues on golden eye than PD. I can still go back and play PD, GE makes my head hurt to look at.

Perfect Dark; loved the alt modes on all the weapons. set grenades to proximity pinball and have a blast.
