What is your "one day..." bass?

A Dingwall AZ. I'll never be able to afford one and don't have much use for them anyway, but the heart wants what the heart wants. It would also be cool to have a birth year bass, but I was born in 1975, already have a keeper Precision and don't like Fender Jazz basses. So that seems unlikely

For thirty odd years it was a Rickenbacker 4003. I finally got one in 2015 and we've been very happy together since. Sometimes when I see an Alembic Epic come up for sale I feel the pangs, but that sort of spending is behind me now I reckon.

It's Thunderbirds and those Steinberger/Hohner headless, cricket bat jobs for me. I love how they look and sound, but they just don't sit right ergonomically.

The GAS is nagging and recurrent however.

I very nearly pulled the trigger on an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV last year. Through neck, oil finished wood,
( ) but somebody rescued me by buying it first!

The Steinbergers leave my right elbow floating awkwardly, but familiarity and persistence might get me past it!

I'd be very surprised if examples of these don't find their way into my hands at some point, and either would look great down at the folk club!

I had an alembic built for me in 1981. It's a 4-string, long scale point with some custom options. Other than having a 5-string version, I've been to the mountaintop. I bought a Spector Euro 5 CST last July, and that was bass #60 for me. #61 is a beater American Pro Precision Bass from 2005. There's nothing I need, but it's fun to play something different every so often.

G&L L-2500 Series 750 with flatwounds
MusicMan Stingray HH 5-string that's a delightful instrument
2005 Fender Precision American Pro
Squier Mini Precision
NS Design WAV 5 electric upright bass
Generic plywood upright bass
Alembic Series I 4-string

I'm a big proponent of not having a bucket list and just doing the thing(s) you want to do NOW because too many of my friends died before they ever had the chance to enjoy life.

I’ve owned 13 basses in my 20 years of playing, but the most expensive one cost $350.00. A Ric is five times that.

Someday I’d love to own one, and maybe I will, but not right now. Three kids under 12 years old are taking all of my resources right now

An Ibanez Saber bass...my "one that got away" bass was a purple-ish/pink-ish SB900LE I picked up second hand just after college. Sold it during a long break from playing that involved a couple cross-country moves for work. Regret it every day since I've come back to playing.

No, double cut Danos only have 15 frets…on the double neck it means both necks are the same length but the bridges are in different locations

I play "basic" bass lines with a fretted p bass but if ever I get very good, I would love to give a try to this Takamine TB 10 that sounds sooooooooo sweet :

My "wishful thinking" bass is a Pedulla Rapture 4-string with the single soapbar. Still the sexiest bass I've ever seen and will never play (since Pedulla is no more).

Mine's a Pedulla MVP or Buzz, specifically in the Arctic Night finish. All my fretted needs are covered and I don't play fretless enough for it to really make sense to drop that much cash on a fretless, but this is still the sexiest bass for me. With the combination of Pedulla being gone and my being a lefty, the odds of this coming up are almost zero at this point though.

Those TB 10s sound amazing! The great Tony Franklin has one and he played it on his YouTube channel. That got me hooked. But one of those is $4,200 new!

Second, a pre-EB Stingray. I have never been, currently am not and will never be a Stingray player. I've owned a USA Sterling, currently have a Sterling Stingray and I just can't get along with the necks and the sound of Stingray. Even so, every time a vintage Stingray pops up for sale, I go "well...shall I?"

I'll have to let you in on something about preEB's: The necks are slimmer and rounder feeling, much like when you pick up a preCBS 60s Fender....Leo really had an idea of how he wanted his necks for feel during his time at either company. EB made necks have never caught that feel, and G&L necks are even way further apart.

Either a 6 string Warwick Corvette, a Steve Bailey 6-string fretless precision or a Musician Bongo. With 6 strings, cos if ever a bass was made for 6 strings it's the Bongo.

I mainly play 4 string fretless these days. But I want (one of) those three 6-ers.
