What phone are you using these days?

My old Android (Galaxy J3 Luna Pro) is version 6.0.1. A quick look online says Android 16 is latest and greatest. Mine's so old that it can't handle updates anymore LOL. I just use it for selected text and phone contacting. Occasional internet for music and news headlines when walking the dogs. Map function still gets used, too.
My wife has a newer phone than mine (but not latest and greatest) and she uses the hell out of it LOL.
The bulk of communication and internet stuff is split between a landline phone, a desktop and laptop computer.

I have a OnePlus Nord...something that's basically the top end of their budget line. I've had it for almost 2 years and yeah, no complaints. It's a great phone, with stellar battery life and decent camera. Does everything I need it to.
The wife and I switched from iPhones to Pixel 10s on Black Friday last year. Paid up front for less than $200 each when trading in our phones, owned and no carrier deals. We were annoyed with the new iOS update and how awful the keyboard is. Even iPhone's GBoard doesn't come close to how fluid Google's keyboard is. No issues so far, I got the blue and no case and it's gorgeous, but my wife for sure needs one and has gotten her use out of it. Hopefully we'll have these for a long time.
I'm a diehard "Pixel only" kind of phone user. I want the newest OS with the least third-party modifications. Currently on a Pixel 8 Pro.
Some individual Pixel-branded phones had screwups, such as the mentioned battery screwup and my many way split Pixel 3 XL. But the advantages reign for me still. No problems with my Pixel 6 and then 8 Pro.

I got tired of having problems with android phones. Not operator errors. Problems that should not happen. The last straw was a 5000-mile road trip to Texas and back in which my android phone was almost constantly useless. My sister's iPhone worked perfectly. She and I have the same carrier (T-Mobile).
Got an iPhone when I returned. That was almost two years ago now. I could not be happier. Seriously. My Apple devices are constantly surprising me with the cool stuff they do. Seamlessly. Effortlessly. Just the opposite of the android experience. AI thinks Apple is the #1 smartphone maker in the world and with well over 50% market share in the US. No wonder.

Pixel 8 Pro. I've used either Nexus or Pixel phones for years now and never an issue. I'm on AT&T and I always have coverage everywhere I go. I have been with that same provider back when it was Cingular before the merger with AT&T.

First step is from proprietary to open source, and that Android phones tend to run faster than similarly priced iPhones. Admittedly this is at the expense of Amplitube or TH-U Mobile, though I'm pretty satisfied with my Hotone preamp/multi/interface with similar function.
Next step is from an old ecosystem to a fresh, new one. This way I can get optimised codes for my hardware, without any historical burdens or "poopie mountains" from previous versions.

iPhone 17 Pro and I’m a fan of the Liquid Glass interface. The phone also serves a a great video recorder at gigs with surprisingly good audio from the built in microphones

I really like the apple interface.
First go to settings, screen and change the Liquid Glass from transparent to matte:
Then go to setttings, accessibility, text size and visualisation. Change these settings:

You can bypass the annoying features of Liquid Glass and actually make the phone look better than it was.
