Les has used plenty of Carl Thompson’s through the years, but most recently has been making his own pachyderm design.

Personally, I'd call it "interesting". I don't mean that as a backhanded slap. It's wild, very stylish and interesting to look at. The term "Functional Art" springs to mind. It's not my style of choice, but it's cool that there are people who think "outside the box" when it comes to their designs, so good on them.

As to whether or not it'd be comfortable in my own, two hands, that's a question that could only be answered if I got to try one out.

Reminds me of Doctor Seuss mixed with Salvador Dali. I kind of like it. Also, I certainly like some of Carl Thompson's work.

Aesthetics are always a personal thing, I think urban legend might be guiding some of the opinions on costs. While Carl’s instruments may not be free or budget minded, his new basses are priced way below many other high end boutique instruments. I am not sure why the used market is so crazy for his instruments (maybe not having to pay to wait?) but you could get 3 of Carl’s basses new for the cost of another boutique builder who builds out of the same area of the state.

It’s the Carl Thompson shape with that little loopy end part but it has a different headstock than Carl Thompson’s.
There’s really no other way to describe that thing. Also, am I the only person not of fan of Carl Thompson style basses or this style?

Imagine if you were reading a comic book with a bass guitar hero in it. This would be the bass he/she would be playing. It’s a cartoon bass.
