My first, exactly!!! Paid $60 for it. It played and sounded great, really better than my next one, a terribly refinned Gibson EB0.
First one we played, or first one we owned?
If the former, it was (IIRC) a Fender Mustang (I think it was that because I remember it being very comfortable for my small high-school-guitar-player hands; the next one I played I remember being surprised by the long scale).
If the latter, a 1981(ish) Peavey T40.
In between was the first bass I have a picture of myself playing, a mid-70s Tele with black nylons that belonged to a friend:

Ibanez SR400 Soundgear. Never liked it. Played it for about a year and then got a Squier CV P bass. I played that one for a few years. Loved it. I consider that one to be my first real bass.
A cream colored Tele Bass knock-off with a rosewood board and white pick guard. I think it was even a cut below a Bradley, but man did I love that thing.
No pics, so I guess it didn't happen, because all we had were Polaroids back then, but it did...happen.

Hamer Cruise, MiK, bought it in 1999 for 96.000 Escudos (Portugal's coin before the Euro). That would be 480 euros, 20 years ago. I was 19 and it took all my savings. Well worth it. At the time I didn't like the tort pickguard, so I painted it black.
About 10-15 years ago:
I put Seymour Duncan's Antiquity II pickups some years ago. Recently I had the bass re-shielded, had a fret job, changed the pots.
I also restaured the pickguard to its original color and put some Fender type knobs:
I love this bass.

A MIM Fender P bass that I found in the paper. Came with a Crate amp that must’ve been made of lead. I hated it at first, then loved it. It was stock when I bought it, and by the time I gave it to me nephew it had an EMG pickup, a bone nut, a badass bridge, and it was a fretless.

Harmony H25 in a sunburst with a cardboard case. Got it for Xmas. Thought my Dad had finally caved in. Uh-uh it wasn't him. It was my Mom. Turns out she had stood on a box and played double bass through most of high school lol. Yup she's pretty cool.

My first electric guitar was a Global from Sears... This is the first time I've seen someone mention that brand.
Borrowed the guitar players Peavy t40 for years. Saved some money drove to Sam Ash in Hempstead on
Long Island and got me a 1983 Ibanez 924DS Musician. Little did i know what good taste I had. Still have it.

A 1963 six string Hohner which I kept for all of one year.Then I moved on to A cherry red Gibson EBO...I loved the short scale.
