What was your first bass guitar?

I did well on my first NBD purchase, walked out with 2 Fenders for a total of $500 in '83
'72 stripped to nat. Precision with a slim neck / maple board which was modded to fretless
the bassist from Air Supply had been admiring it for an hour so I figured it was a good risk
my main focus tho was the big burst lurking in the back of the repair shop, a '65 dot neck (first year of production) BASS V. got'm home, opened the cases, and the room filled with the smell of Fullerton! you don't forget that.

My first "bass" was a borrowed Harmony Meteor guitar we took the high strings off and turned all the controls on the guitar and amp to bass with treble all off. There was not a bass guitar to be begged, borrowed, bought or stolen in the four towns in the area.

My first actual bass was a fretless Raven-branded sort of JB copy my then wife gave me for Valentine's Day in 1976.

She's still my wife and I still have the bass.
