Heya MW---just answered your PM and here is your info on your Force 8, including your wonderful BBR Force 8!!
1982: the Wing series SB-40EQ replaces SB-40 but same as the '81 SB-40 (with the possible exception that the 40 had brushed aluminum cavity plates and the 40EQ did not as far as I can determine), the Wing series B-40, the Force-40-headstocked B-40EQW with SB-40 electrical package, the Force 40EQ (also SB-40 elec pkg except for a very few with the B-40 elec package), the Stage B-20 and with it’s little brother B-5 Stage bass introduced (Scavenger,Vulture I and II still being sold), and first appearance of the the Force 8 (maple fretboard) and Force 4 (rosewood fretboard). Note WASHBURN FINALLY PUT THE NAMES OF THEIR ELEC GUITARS ON THE TRUSS ROD COVERs (Falcon, Hawk, T-Birds, Eagle---no Ravens produced)

1983: Wing series B-40, Force series B-40EQW and the B-40EQ(including fretless and did not come in white), the regular Force 40 begins, Force 4's and 8's and B-20's/5's (Vulture I and II still being sold as well)
Note: 1982 and 1983 sheet ads (same basses used for both years) list only B-40EQW, the 1983 catalog (page 8) lists only the B-40EQ as does the price list. Prototype B-60 bass and G-64 guitar (Bantam Headless) sold from a store ( I have pictures) with no SN's. Washburn's first Stratocaster copy debuted as Force 30, along with Force 31 and 32 guitars with different pickup configurations on the same Strat body.

1984: Regular Force 40's, Force 4+8 last year, B-20 Stage BBR and B-5 Stage BBR and Force 40 BBRs and Force 8K BBR (as opposed to the B-8—there are 2 differently priced Force 8’s this year and 2 Force 8K’s) and the Bantam B-60 BBR headless (for $999.00 while a regular, non-BBR B-60 is $899.00)--All BBRs this year are BBR'd completely: body, neck and headstock, other than the Force 8 which has a non-BBR headstock --only in 1984. In the 1984 BBR catalog on page 2 it shows a Force 40 BBR but labeled as a Force 40EQ---another mistake by Washburn in advertising. The B-40EQ was also available as BBR per the official price list document on page 2, and white also is added per the catalog (the B-40EQW is not in the catalog). Vulture II still in production. Also for sale is the Tour Series for Rudy Sarzo Slammer Basses: B-70RS in black/white starburst and the B-70G (metallic gray) Also the B-60 Bantam headless (also in BBR) and the double neck Bantam B-62 came out. All Bantam B-60 Headless basses found to date only have 5 serial numbers instead of the usual 6 numbers.
NOTE:
1. BBR means BLACK Body, BLACK Hardware (with dark rosewood fretboard) and RED binding all the way around.
2. Some guitars also BBR’d: HM-20+35 models, Hawk, Tour 24 and Tour WT-24V BBR, Force 6, HB-35, FV-20V, FV-2V , A series to include A-20/20V, A-23K, A-20K, A-5V, etc. But also note some guitars like the Tour 24 (Les Paul style, also known as WT-24) did not have the red binding around the headstock. 3. Note Some B-5 Stage bass and Force 8 BBR pick guards had their edges BBR'ed also! Not seen that on any other basses. AND some had the input jack on the FRONT of the bass by the 2 pots! Not on the bottom edge. The Stage basses B-20 and B-5 also had several different TYPES of pick guards used as did the Force 40 and Force 8 BBR, another unusual thing about them.
4. The Force 8 BBR was available with one humbucker pickup or the standard single “P” pickup! Note the headstock was NOT BBR'd and some BBR patterns were 1, 2 or 3 red lines making up the red binding.
5. BBR was used 20 years later in 2004 on the Washburn X-50 Guitar! Also used by Cort in 1985 on a guitar.

1985: the Force series B-40EQ and still available in white, the new B-4 and B-8 which replace the Force 4 and Force 8, the B-5 Stage bass...and the only 2 Basses BBR are the new B-8 BBR which is NOT BBR'd on the maple fretboard neck or Headstock--so its a partial BBR and the fully BBR'd Force 42 headless bass of which I have found only one sample (in England). NO more regular Force 40's or Stage B-20's!(someone please show me a 1985 one and I'll change this, but do not believe so). Several guitars, however, were still BBR’d (HM models, Tour WT-24V, some A series, Force 6). Also in the 1985 catalog is the Force 42 headless bass (also made in Fretless as owned by Doctor Bass at Level 42 Web Digest forum which was also offered in BBR (the only bass fully BBR'd in 1985. ( Invalid Link Removed) which may have been in production up to 88 (1987 for sure), and with the Bantam B-60 ($899.00) headless and the double neck Bantam B-62 (fretted/fretless for $1499.00) still in production. The GB-63B was a double neck with both guitar AND BASS (catalog says in black only and priced at $1499.00). We know the Bantam headless G-64 guitar (shown in red on the 1985 catalog, page 6) was also offered."

Thanks, Melonthief. For $149, I couldn't pass it up, even with the gigantic chunk taken out of it. I am pretty sure that someone on this thread had looked at it online recently while searching for BBRs at Guitar Center.

It's been a long time since I've used this type of forum, so forgive me for not posting embedded image links. I'll get it up as soon as I figure it out.

You got a very nice B-8 BBR, I got myself a B-8 BBR 1985 with the two soap bar pick-ups and you could find some pictures on the Washburn Club (Redux) threads where I post the pics. If you can't found, just tell me and I repost it for you. To answer you about the way to embed image on this Forum, first just go on the advance tools to edit post, look at the top of the editing area and you'll see the different editing tools. There you'll find a litle icon that present a small landscape (mountains and moon or sun in a yellow background), just click on this icon and copy the address of your image on your Photobucket or on your Google Drive account. You'll have to take care and be sure that your Photobucket or Google Drive got a public access to the images or the link won't work. her is just an example, the address of the image is http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p524/sergepaq2012/file_zps49d9c2df.jpg and it got to be include in the
quotes to be visible.

Heya MortallyWounded--I got your number up in the Official Washburn Club (part 3) thread. You are #88 and I put your Force 8 BBR on the database list here also. You can find it here at post #133.
I almost bought that bass (its the used Gtr Center, right) but was afraid as they described the hunk out of the back. You can fill it with wood filler, paint it shiny black and you'll be good to go.
If you can find the black and red speed dials, I'd do it (let us know where you found them)! But always keep the originals. The Hipshot, if that's what you want---why not, you can always put the originals back on. I would try to keep everything black for sure though.

You are our only member to have a Force 8 BBR and SP_EB4L is our only member to have a B-8 BBR! I think only Melonthief and I have a Force 40 BBR. I just love these BBR's! Your binding, btw, is an unusual one with the 3 lines making up the red binding---really beautiful! Glad it belongs to one of us here!

My god.... Where the hell would we be without the MEKkersan? A bunch of guys trading pictures and stories about Washburn Basses. You are the glue MEK.... All of you efforts are GREATLY appreciated. (Browwwn noooose, brrrrowwwwn noooose)

Well, what strings indeed! They were on the bass when I bought it a couple of months ago and they sound OK-they are conventional (i.e. not double ball end) rounds and they feel like Rotos which is what I use, but they aren't Rotos because they don't have any wrapping on them.
Controls are Vol, Pup blend and Tone which effectively sounds like treble cut/boost.
Neck pup and treble rolled right off gives me a nice thump for my blues band, and bridge pup and treble on gives a thin twangy poppy sound that I don't currently use.
Feels nicely balanced to wear, and the neck on mine feels like a Jazz. Neck width at the zero fret is 43mm, and string spacing at the bridge is 55mm E to G outer edges.
Currently playing it through a Trace Elliott AH200 head and an Ashdown 4x10.
