What Will Squier Do Next?

I like the new 77 jazz! It's the same damn thing as the regular VM jazz but in black and with pearl inlays instead of black inlays, I don't see what the problem with it is.

I also would love to see a CV mustang.

I think fender will tell squier to drop the line, thats what they did when the protone squier line was alot better the MIM fenders, fender told them shut off production.

Don't think so.

Fender is not selling the upper crust basses or guitars right now and this economy has taken another hit with the SEC and FTC announcement today that the - er 'recession' may last a little longer than they thought.

Like - uh, another year and a half!

So - keeping that in mind, Fender has done this Squier upgrade to keep their luthiers and talented artisans working as much as possible - and the front office full of hot and cold running secretaries, don't forget.

Nope - I think this is the game plan that Fender has at the moment.

We are just able to take advantage of it right now 'cause they are selling these VMs and CVs at (great for us) prices.

Prices rising? Maybe some - but they tried that a few years ago when there was more disposable income and they dropped back to the scrimmage line after they lost a lot of sales.

How about this: start using nitrocellulose paint on all VMs and CVs!?!?

Interesting thought - and I was worried that many or all would just want different colors. There've been a few of them (no offense) but I like this idea.

How about a modular bass?

Pick a body from column A
Pick a neck from column B
Pick tuners from column C
Pick Passive or Active in column D
Pick a body color from column E
Pick with or without inlays

Etc, etc, etc.

Maybe they wont cut the line now , its only been 2 years, but the pro tones ran 4-ish years, there were other great squiers before, like vista series, SQ's and JV's all of each ceased production at one point, I dont think there will be a CV line within the next 2 years, like how squier affinities have been around over a decade I dont see CV's becoming like a "standard" line.

Dang, those Coronado's look sweet, especially the Antigua's! How in the world did they sound? Epi's JC's have a classic sound to them and I'd hope these would as well.

I've never seen these on eBay doing a general 'Fender Bass' search. Wonder how many are out there.

A Mustang RALLY would be very cool. I played a friend's Vista Series Musicmaster (white w/matching headstock!) some years back and it was soooo comfy. I'd be on a new Mustang Rally like ugly on an ape, and I don't buy new.

Also, a P5 Special.

Edit: +1 to a Bass VI. I'm now visualizing a room full of often-played Squiers with my 77 P and my Bongo weeping in the corner for lack of use.
