What would you buy with $$1600

I've got a Ric, a couple of really nice Warwicks (you're not gonna touch those for $1,600) and a G & L. All are nice - and all of them are different.
I might be tempted to try a MusicMan, but I would also consider taking that money and putting that towards a Dingwall (a real Canadian one - not a Combustion).
The Dingwall is at the top of my bass wish list right now and I might have pulled the trigger on one, except I don't really need it (sounds damned practical doesn't it?)

Got this thumb NT6 for less than that. Check out eBay, a lot of nice basses that are make an offer just sit there. This one was listed for $2k and make an offer. Made an offer for $1500 and they said no at first but he needed to move it so eventually he contacted me and asked if I was still interested in it for the price I offered.
Drop a B16A in it with straight piping and you'll be on your way to pissing off your neighbors AND upsetting Mustang drivers at the same time.
If I had that money purely to blow on musical gear, either a used Taylor 414CE or maybe a Lakland DJ5.

fore-go the bass. buy lagavulin 16, 12, and 8 year, ardbeg corryvreckan, Laphroaig Select, cask strength, and 15 year, Bowmore 15 Darkest, Talisker 10....then buy a used bass. you will have much more fun that way.

Of all the basses I've owned I've gotten the most compliments from sound engineers on the tone of my SR5's. They sit in the pocket above the kick drum and below everything else better than any other basses I've owned. Another bass I had that cut really well was a G&L 5 string with active EMG's. It played really well but I could never fall in love with the sound of those pickups, just too aggressive for me. Another bass I owned that was in that ballpark was a Lakeland 5502 with Barts. I would probably still be playing it but I could never deal with the 35" scale. My wrist would be killing me by 3rd set. (jmho)
