What would you buy with $$1600

A little backup for greybeard (coincidentally, so is mine)- I paid $1250 for my SR5 HH, and, knowing what I do now, if I didn't already have it, that would be the next bass on my list. I like my P and my Carvin, but the Stingray is just far and away my favorite bass. YMMV

I'd search for a used Fender American P bass - top price = $1100 before tax; and I'll ask the seller to knock off the tax (10%, they'll usually do that). I'd use the remaining $500 on strings because you'll spend that much searching for the right strings to pair with that bass. But, if you happen to like the strings that are on the bass, you may want to use the five hundred bucks on a pedal/s.
