What would you buy with $$1600

Biggest problem, at least to me, would be the paint job. I can do a decent enough job with rattle cans, no runs or anything. But dust is the enemy when doing stuff like that. And all the sanding in between and the final buffing and all that.

Thats part of the reason why I haven't done it yet. The other part is that I need another guitar/bass like I need a hole in the head, I'm actually trying to slim down a little.

Yeah, I couldn't deal with all the painting, dust and sanding, so I just had Warmoth do all of that; I put/assembled everything together myself, it was fun and easy, especially with the EMG pickups.

Think what a nice bass you could buy with $3000, and as a free bonus you will be a much better player by then and can really enjoy an expensive bass! ;)

I invested mine in hamburgers. I did notice a doubling effect....but I don't have any money left and I'm not even halfway to 5 years....

Looks awesome!

I can't wait to build one; gonna do a '59 tribute 32" scale; satin finish black-brown-yellow burst, satin vintage neck, PJ, gold anodized pickguard..maaaaaaybe black hardware. It's pretty amazing that you can build exactly the bass you want.

I'd get a Kiesel (Carvin) Xccelerator. Custom options so you get it like you want it and the Split Coil Neck/Radiused Humbucker Bridge pickups should give you plenty of pound. If you go with a standard color/finish you should have a few bucks left over for some good cables, maybe a pedal, or stash a little cash.

Are you neck size sensitive?
I used to only play jazz width necks, then 5-strings cured me of that.

Used Stingrays are about a grand all day long. Pick GC, Sam Ash, etc. Classic, HH, regular, whatever.

Then you have a few shekels left over for something different.
Owned a Lakland, a Warwick, Spector, etc?

Smart targeted shopping and you could have 2 basses.

If you really gotta have a Rick or a Marsu-something then I'd go slow and make sure that single purchase is going to hold you for a while.

Me, the SVT mid rocker is basically for a couple different basses, and I'm done. Totally good with what I have unless I want to start plugging in preamps or pedals.

Then I guess I have to find another bass for a other tone combo.

I bought it separate. Yesterday I put four layers of nitro over it and the fretboard (leaving the back satin vintage nitro) and have to wait 2 weeks for it to cure before buffing out. That will give me time to assemble the electronics. The neck pocket tolerances are amazing on this baby.

Edit: you can get the logo in black as well as one other color I believe.
