Chaos Walking, 2021 film. Sci-fi dystopian action thriller set in 2257 (exactly 300 years after I was born LOL). Mads Mikkelsen, Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, .

Vampyr, 1932 film. Eerie, gothic. Soft focus black and white filming added to the mood. Creative camera and editing effects. Version I watched was subtitled in English. If you want fast paced and lots of action, this ain't it. If you like mood, atmosphere, and vampire stories
, I'd suggest trying this.

Lost Horizon, 1937 film. Adventure drama fantasy centered around Shangri-La. The fantasy element was low-key in the background, which was cool with me. About 7 minutes of film couldn't be found to restore the original film length of 132 minutes. Still photographs of the pertinent set photo, or actor speaking, are shown to fill in for missing film. Audio track intact.

The Man in the Hat, 2020 film. Light, whimsical comedy. A pleasant diversion. A British film involving a car chase thru France. Very minimal dialogue. The star is Ciarán Hinds. Fans of Game of Thrones will remember him as Mance Rayder.

Anyway, just some recent ones I enjoyed.

I left John Wick 4 after about 45 minutes. I can't do it. A 20 minute youtube video of John Wick style fighting would be great. I need a story if I'm gonna watch a movie. I need characters. The fighting and shooting just isn't enough. I saw the first one and third one. Were there dogs in one? That's the other one I saw. These movies do nothing for me.

I’ve heard so much about the John Wick series, but I’ve never seen any of them. They’ve never sounded like my kind of movies, but people seem to love them. I also need real characters and story to stay interested, which is why most modern movies don’t connect with me.

I've lost patience for mindless action movies. The last one I remember liking was Shoot Em Up with Clive Owen. That was dumb action but it was goofy. Maybe that's what's missing from John Wick for me. There's zero humor. The movie takes itself 100% seriously but the world building is so weak and uninteresting and the characters are so hollow and unrelatable that it's just fight choreography. That's all it is. For four movies.

Shoot 'em Up was Bugs Bunny, and a blast.

I watched one of them for about a half hour. I didn't enjoy it and I can't seem to get 'Bill and Ted' out of my mind every time I see Keanu Reeves.
