Friday night we watched "Fighting with my Family", starring Nick Frost, Florence Pugh, Lena Headey, Vince Vaughn, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. A funny movie with a solid story.

Renfield was okay. Nicholas Cage was in full Nicholas Cage mode, which was great. Nicholas Hoult is very good in everything he's been in. The script sucked though. This movie needed better dialogue and story than it got.

Excellent movie!
My father was a merchant marine. He seldom talked about the war.
This movie shed a whole new light on his situation. I was shocked at the danger merchant marines were in.

Growing up, we would watch Carol Burnett's show weekly. This special was great -- until Katy Perry sang the show's closing song, where she was just showing off and didn't connect with the sentiment at all. Regardless, if you're a Carol fan, you can watch it on YouTube.

I just watched the series "Beef" on netflix. Initially I tried it because one of the stars in it was Steven Yeun/Glen from the Walking Dead.

I didn’t expect Netflix's Beef to be one of the best shows of 2023 — but it blew me away

I was disappointed with the ending in how they chose to reconcile the characters. But the there were plenty of twists and turns in the rest of the series to keep it interesting.

Just watched a movie I liked, but had forgotten about until yesterday. The Freshman (1990). Light, feel good entertainment. Marlon Brando parodies his Godfather roll as some characters notice the exact likeness. Add a bit more meta as Mathew Broderick's film professor shows clips from the Godfather film. The movie's premise is kinda unique.

If you have some down time, might be worth checking out. Found it on regular cable TV.
