For All Mankind is an Apple TV series that begins in the sixties and in season 5 is in the very new future having captured an iridium based asteroid around Mars, as a Mars launched expedition lands on a moon on an outer planet.

It is at times mawkishly sentimental as the story moves at uneven pace. But, every so often it offers something outstanding. Two scenes stand out: two astronauts must save the fledgling moon base by going outside with a suit made of duct tape, there heroic actions saves the base at the cost of their lives; and in the latest episode a scene creates the visual for Alien tagline, In Space No One Can Hear You Scream as woman screams silently in her helmet.

So it is these days that YouTube has as much entertainment value as $$$ productions on TV.

I'm still watching it for some reason. I think someone wrote a super rough multi-season arc and had a mediocre writer's room do the rest. Characters have backstories to seemingly create moments that just aren't as impact full as I think they think they are. I like world-building but I think this is one to skip.

So far the show "The Patriot" just keeps getting better. Halfway through season one. Also shows with lots of "Lost" actors seem to rock. So recommend.

Back to Britbox. Watched the first season of “Time”. Three seasons, all different casts, i wont watch seasons 2&3. Season 1 has three episodes, strong cast. 2021, but in no way dated.

Different casts each season. Season one has Sean Beane like Ive never seen him. My favorite, Stephen Graham as well. It’s a prison drama. Overall IMDB 8.4. The final episode gets a 8.6. Sean Beane won a BAFTA for his role. Gripping, a tough watch, it may be the best thing I’ve watched in a while. Once again, the Brits get it right; it pulls you in. Others in the cast I recognize from Britbox offerings in the same genre make this as good a watch as anything out there. I don’t know WHY this went under my radar- i only learned about it this Friday and I’ve been looking. HIGHLY recommend- i give it 9 Bananas.

If you have access to Britbox, it’s something like $11 a month. I’d pay $20 for this alone. If you’re unfamiliar with Stephen Graham, you can catch him for free in Sam Fender’s “Spit of You” video on YouTube and it may make you cry. He’s the Jack Russel Terrier of acting. Once again, no pretty faces in “Time”, just quality performances, no suspension of disbelief, under three hours all told, and it does what good cinema does in that it takes you to another place where you can forget about everything, which is really nice right about now.

If you're a Stephen Graham fan, you owe it to yourself to watch "This Is England" , and the subsequent spin-off T.V. series with the suffix '86 / '88 / '90 (hopefully there'll be a fourth season at some point).

I have to admit that I still haven't got round to watching Boardwalk Empire, the T.V. series of Boiling Point (though the movie was pretty good), The Walk-in (which I suspect might be up your street), or Adolescence (which I've been mean to watch since it was released).

Help was worth watching at the time, but I'm not sure that's a time and place I want to revisit.

When you were on your Martin Freeman binge, did you watch Breeders? (4 seasons. I really enjoyed it).

"Spider Noir" with Nick Cage is fantastic. "The Boys" just ended. This is not that but it's effing weird and kinda a superhero thing. Please tell me if I'm crazy or Cage just uses whatever old-timey accent he feels like when they shoot an episode. Mostly constant but crazy drift in a couple episodes. Mostly trapped at home this week so it'll be a quick watch. Thus far I want more.
