Coming to Apple TV Friday, a 10 part series, the third remake of Cape Fear starring Javier Bardem as another iteration of Max Cady with Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams as both the Prosecutor and Max's attorney in the trial that sent him to prison. Max gets out, seeks revenge.
The only sticking point is the 10 episodes. We also don't subscribe to Apple TV, but were going to do the trial thing just to catch "Widow's Bay". I dig Javier Bardem as a creeper. Both "No Country For Old Men" and "Skyfall" showcased his talents as an uber malevolent character.

For whatever reason, I have no interest in this remake, but Widow's Bay is GREAT. I started Star City, no opinion on that one yet.
Thinking about a double feature of Obsession and Backrooms either tonight or tomorrow, but I also want to finish Hokum and Is God Is.

Is this the same as the 90's movie? If so, I don't see how they can get 10 episodes out of that when the two hour movie was fine.
Maybe with enough commercials and fluff they can drag it out I suppose.

Low budget, straight to hulu, predictable slog of a movie. Lil Rel does a good job. I love a story about a person or people stuck in a place and trying to get out or solve the mystery of the place, but the twist is immediately apparent and the themes are obvious and tired.
Have you seen Severance? It's the best show on the platform.
Went to see Backrooms yesterday afternoon. I really liked it. It's very slow, for the most part, and I truly appreciate a film that doesn't treat me like I have ADHD and a raging TikTok addiction. Hoping to see Obsession next week.
I stumbled on this while looking for Kenner products and they had some toy gun that shot around corners. This youtube video showed up and I had to watch. I always thought the Gatlin gun was pretty whacked until I saw these 10 attempts to improve handheld firearms in the 1700s and 1800s. Geez louise.

As cool as it was to see Jim Brown, Ron O'Neal, Fred Williamson, Richard Roundtree, and the lovely Pam Grier in the same movie, the movie fell flat. It has none of the vibe of the original '70s blaxploitation flicks, and it's not nearly as good as the best '90s "hood" movies (Boyz n the Hood, South Central, Menace II Society).
You're better off watching the spoof/parody movies, like "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka," "Undercover Brother," and especially "Black Dynamite."

Where does Colors rank in there for you?
Not a 90's movie since it was released in I believe 88 or 89, still just curious how your rank that one. As a pasty white guy who left SoCal before the Crips and Bloods gained the notoriety they had when this film came out, that movie was cool and scary at the same time.
