Reminds me of the double barreled cannon in downtown Athens GA.
Lol! I was over at a friend's house and he had Black Dynamite on a DVD collection and he played. I remember it the first time but I forgot how over the top it was. Lol.
Didn't dig it.
It was more about the cops than about the people in the neighborhood. Nothing against cops, but there had already been plenty of movies focusing on the police, and I didn't like the fact that the first major release movie about what was going on in gang-ridden LA neighborhoods treated the people there almost as caricatures. The "hood" movies I mentioned focused more on humanizing the people in the middle of it all.
IMO, of cousre.
We watched "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" on Saturday, from the list of our "must see" films for our son. He really liked it, and it has held up well.

We're finishing this gritty crime drama up tonight. The limited series format suits the story well and the cast is top notch.
We dropped Britbox- VERY satisfied with the content- watched everything rated 7.5+, and picked up Apple TV, and it's been a smashing success. We have several shows lined up- caught up with both Cape Fear, the first two episodes and are anxiously awaiting the rest of Widows Bay.
Streaming content at first seemed to be B grade, at least that was my misinformed preconception, but the days of theater viewing seem to be numbered for our tastes and the industry's move to these streaming shows have more than surpassed my expectations. Big names, big stars, along with under appreciated actors have delivered surprisingly well.
The circuses in the bread-and-circuses are very, very, good indeed these days. I think Huxley may have been more prescient than Orwell.
This was on my mind when I wrote these lyrics a couple years ago:

Just finished the latest seasons of For All Mankind and Your Friends and Neighbors. Good stuff. Watched the first 3 episodes of Star City - Very different vibe from FAM. Follows the usual trope of the Soviet Union being a dank dour soul-crushing place to live (which it probably was). The female KGB Colonel Raskova character is almost a caricature, makes me think of Frau Farbissina in Austin Powers.

That show was much deeper than I expected. I ended up really liking it, though it is kind of a bummer (as you implied.)
Well, Obsession lived up to the hype and then some. Different, but as powerful as Bring Her Back, and with a few sick laugh out loud moments. Definitely one to see in the theatre with a bunch of strangers.
Agreed. Glad you enjoyed. I'll eventually watch again when it hits streaming. Trying to decide if I want to see Backrooms, but opinions are mixed. I'll likely wait on that one.
I really like Backrooms. The which-one-is-better argument isn't useful, imho. They're completely different movies and have basically nothing in common.
