is that phase 90 a modded one or did you blend? i have one aswell sitting on my shelf .. i found it cut lows big time.
I haven't owned a credit card in like 5 years... and you know what, I haven't needed one since. Can't recommend cutting up those soul sucking money shackles enough! Saving up is so much more... gratifying. And, no interest payments!
But, to confess, I am a click away from spending my gas (car fuel) money on a Xerograph... my gf is over my shoulder quietly whispering 'don't do it, don't do it'. heh, heh... Even though she knows its her turn to buy gas... so I can ease my GAS.
Yes, it was a modded phase 90. My oft mentioned gf has one that was modded, and which I modded back to stock so she can hear all the mid-rangy goodness the un-modded version has to offer (she's a metal guitarist).
Honestly, the stock phase 90 doesn't attenuate lows so much as it kinda boosts upper mids. Not saying it doesn't suck lows, I just think it boost mids waaaaay more. With the R28 resister(?) removed, the mids are left alone, so the eq balance of the effect is much smoother, less twangy, and thus you hear the lows better. They sound more 'full' than the stock version. A subtle but essential (imo) improvement to the effect if used on bass without a blend.
It was a nice basic phaser, but I am not using phaser effects much lately (something I thought I'd never say, especially since Subdecay came out with the Quasar DLX, yummy).

Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard Synth (I know it doesn't count, but I'm excited about it!)
Going: EHX enigma q balls. For me it had all the controls in the world, but I'm just not a fan of the basic sound and topography of the filter.

Our GC had a used one a year or so ago, and I wished then (and still do) that I could have afforded it.
It's like a Rickenbacker mated with a Grabber and had a gorgeous baby!
Sooo I didn't really want to start a new thread for this but..
Been looking at Wren & Cuff pedals lately, I currently use a Swollen Pickle for fuzz, and am a little bored of it (great pedal dont get me wrong), would there be any advantages/ disadvantages of getting a Tall Font Russian or Pickle Pie B??
I realize thats a pretty broad question, just looking for some opinions.

If you like Black Sabbath's Master of Reality, and want your bass to sound like what you hear all over that album... then the TFR is for you.
I own one specifically to sound like that when I want to. Deep, over the top overdriven vroooominess! I also have B3K for a more midrange overdrive. A gated fuzz (tafm for me) rounds out the dirt section with over the top fizziness.
So yes, there is an advantage to owning a TFR. It nails doom metal... I don't really like doom metal, but I LOVE the TFR for what it does. Heavy as an iron casket.
Do note, play it through an amp and speakers for optimum effect.. It's not a headphone effect, though it does sound good through headphones, its just made for live and loud use.
