OctaBass out. Just trying to unload the Granny Puker, and then post a sticky note to my face saying "don't buy any more octavers, jank."

Dark Peppermint fuzz forthcoming. Going to compare it to the NKT 275 and probably just keep one. Depends on how different they are I guess.

Sovtek is green russian one - first was original (as usual) and then reissue. Black is current russian one. Green and black are not the same. Green has much more bottom end.
No there was a Black Sovtek one, it was in the same casing as the Bassballs, all I remember about the ones I tried [I think I tried 3 or so] they were really shrill.

Let me enlighten you regardingthe original Sovtek Muffs. I have owned over half a dozen green ones and 4 of the 6 versions.

First, the black Sovtek reissues and BBM are nothing of the sonic character of the originals. There are mods to the black ones that can obtain a similar tone though, although it doesn't nail it.

No two sound alike due to variables and availability in components when they were built. Many are great pedals, but you get the occasional one that just plain sucks. The end result is that you just have to try it out before making a decision.[/I]

I actually like that about them :hiding: When you find a good one it is unique and only you have that actual muff:hiding:

Your initial reports showed some real promise, what happened? Did you go and read the talkbass reviews or something? :smug:

Nooo, I really love it but a trade offer came up (SYB-3...I've been wanting one for a while) that I just had to go for. I've got a feeling I'll be getting another Blogger at some point, I really like it but had to make the sacrifice :p. IMO, the reviews of the Blogger do not do it justice at all. I think it's a really under-rated pedal. It's like an instant vintage R&B drive tone . Also, I've never had a pedal that has a such a huge sweep with the Tone knob, there's loads of sounds in there. I wasn't sure what to expect from it but I really liked it...

...also explaining the redundancy of the Blogger:

In: Zvex Mastotron, (hopefully) Creation Audio Holy Fire

I think I'll have fuzz and drive covered for a while :bassist:

In: Katana Sound THUNDERCLOUD

First impressions: grindy, MIDS, snarly, no low loss but doesn't boost lows to the extent of other "muffs", doesn't sound like any muffiant I've come across, like a cross between a muff and a fuzz face, will cut though a mix like a beaver wielding a chainsaw:bassist:
