What's on your G.A.S list and why?

My G.A.S. list is strange. I don't gig, so I have no "need" for any of this. Maybe I'm more of a collector.

• Acoustic Bass - Because I don't have one. No specific make/model in mind, just something affordable and decent.
• Ibanez Mikro - Super short scale seems funny and somewhat interesting. Plus, I'd love to have one so my grandkids can plunk on it. Used ones seem to sell for new prices, which is insane. I'm still looking.
• Ibanez Soundgear of some sort - I've had several of these over the years and I've literally regretted selling every one of them. For me, they play super nice. So I'd like to find another one and hang on to this one. Again, used would be best so I can do with it as I wish.

That's me. And I have a MiKro, and right now it's my favorite thing in the world.

I'm seriously looking at Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz basses, and I'd love a Matsumoku era Aria or Univox or Lyle. The first because it's an excellent bass at incredible used prices, and the other because they're just so darned cool. And maybe another MIA Peavey, especially the mahogany Patriot. None of which I need in the slightest, or have room for. And I'm specifically not allowing myself to GAS for an Eastwood Backlund designed bass.

My GAS list is pretty small this Xmas. That's because I've been so self-indulgent over the past few years.

No bass GAS -- I'm genuinely happy with my 10 current basses: they cover all my needs and I don't have any more storage space.

No amp GAS, aside from one that doesn't exist (Darkglass X900)

So, that leaves the following: Darkglass Harmonic Booster v2. It'll be my Xmas present to myself.

P.S. I also want this Darkglass Euryale t-shirt (to match the Euryale amp I bought earlier this year), but I believe my girlfriend is buying it for me. I believe she's also getting me some premium gold EBS flat patch cables.

I just sold a bass last week, successfully downsizing to two basses (Sandberg TM4 and VM5), plus an amp and a few pedals. All of my current GAS is non-bass related. Got into Eurorack earlier this year, which has left little room for other expansion.

Still, I have a personal rule of only owning three basses at any given time, and it's nice to know that there's room for a third if I'm surprised by something out there. I already know I'm partial to 5-string Jazzes on steroids with a birdseye maple fingerboard and black block inlays...

I've wanted to get a hollow-body or at least semi-hollow for a while. When online window shopping, one day I came across the Duesenberg Starplayer bass and loved the art-deco styling touches. Caught a few youtube videos and loved the sound. So now, I want one:

The only bass I lust after is Ken Lawrence's personal 5 string fretless. Unlike some luthiers, this guy can seriously play. His ax reflects the depth of insight he has for the instrument and his craftsmanship is totally flawless. Playing it has ruined me for anything beyond what I already own.

Would be a hoot to acquire a flashy great sounding EB MM Dargie 5er (if such exist, I have seen only 4's ) . Love the cocktail glass fret inlays and the unusual green. Maybe add a 'cocktail glass ' strap to go with it.

I have 2 of the Gibson G-3's and the truss rods are BOTH making their way through the back of the neck, below the headstock. So, a lot of tension there, but the necks just won't straighten out. SOOOOO, getting them both back in action is what I'm hoping for.

My short GAS list is probably going to take five years, unless I get divorced.

A fretless MTD 635, with a wenge neck and some sort of figured top in blue/blue burst, because my current fretless is a banged-up $150 Squier Affinity P that I defretted when I was 16 (long time ago).

An MTD Saratoga with a P pickup (and an MM?), like Norm Stockton's new bass, but with a figured top...because I want a high-end Precision bass with one of Michael's necks and 3-band active with a passive switch.

I'm good with the one amp/cab I have.
