I noticed that my effects case was warm the other night after a gig. It seems that I was covering up a vent on my old, well used Roland GP-8. Also the AC cord for that isn’t removable and after gigs when I leave the cord got loose and drags on the ground…I’m always in a hurry to get home.
I shortened the AC cable to a pigtail and now can use a short extension cord and that can be stowed away after a gig. And I crudely cut in a vent and took a piece out of the bottom of the case to lighten it up. Over all its is lighter…that GP-8 is a stout little guy.
I’m pleased over all.
Edit: add finished pics. DuraTex globs in the cutout….oh well.

Picked up this Traynor YBA200-2 to try with this 2x15 cabinet I built some years ago for a 300 watt project that didn't get finished. So far sounds pretty good.

It's just ported like a Musicman 115 or an early 80s Vox VR115. The concept was to marry two sharing the port. Without any real design it actually worked out well.
No she likes to paint...at least she likes it more than the unsettling fear that I'll do it with less than perfecttion.
I pulled out a lot of parts from storage today to see what I don't need. Stuff I've collected over the years.

That’s sharp and looks like it belongs there. nice work. Nice painting too. I don’t even see any on the floor.
She's good about that. I wanted to add base board but was overruled. That last inch means the little bureau clears the air vent when shoved up against the closet.
Having just got back from a week in South Carolina, I feel like I have a LOT of reading to catch up on. I ate way more BBQ than a man has ay right to eat, so don't judge me.

Still in the process of moving, so the full shop is still... well, non-existent at this point. But I definitely need to keep my brain occupied, so I brought the bass amp back from the practice spot for a nice bath. It was given to my drummer by a friend of his and I've been using it for a while. It's probably been at least 30 years since it was looked at, so no time like the present...

Pulled it apart, cleaned out all the pots and jacks, blasted out the dust and dead spiders from the rest. Cleaned all knobs, replaced rusty and crusty screws, washers, and nuts, wire brushed off what rust I could on the corners and handle, then washed the case down and rubbed it with some mineral oil for a nice shine.
Looks a lot better, IMO. It's ready for another 40 years of getting crusty again.

How do you like that amp? I've never been able to hear one in person and there are scant demo videos. A friend thought his was kinda sterile, but others say they get a nice grind.
