What's On Your Workbench?

This wenge and tiger maple chambered freltess, which I'm just finishing and will probably be the last instrument on my bench for a while.

I waxed it this morning after knocking back the shine on the tru-oil finish and I'm super pleased with how it came out.

Jimmy, I have been trying to get ahold of you. I ended up with "the toaster" and apparently you built it. Mine broke and I need another one desperately. It was such a huge part of my pedalboard. Please get a hold me. [email protected]

New jig day!:hyper:
This didn't used to be a issue for me when I was building one-offs. Never felt the need for building a router fixture.
But now ...Gotta be efficient! :meh:

Milling just the headstock back to thickness by hand took me roughly 20min each for BCR's.
45min for Moser necks cuz they got a cute little sculpted lump for a volute.
And the process was ... well... :spit:
Yup. Time for a bit o kit.
A simple sled and supporty clampy thing. Works a treat.
Milled 5 headstocks in 30 minutes today :smug:

Very nice! I understand as I’m beginning to be worried about having enough “jig storage” room in the garage.

With my current build, I am playing around more with jigs, templates and power tools. I am not going into production, but there are things I've developed and now like a certain way. For those, jigs and templates give consistency. That frees me up so I can focus on other stuff that I am still experimenting with or just want that "by hand" element. I'm still a low level hobbyist but I am having fun and even progressing a bit :)

I also need to build on of these, thanks for posting that for reference!

I have also been thinking of how a similar fixture can interface with a drum sander so the front of the volute can be shaped at the same time.
