What's On Your Workbench?

Pedalboard and road case. Ready for loop tape and wiring. Left side will have IEC socket and a pass through outlet. Case lid has storage compartment for cables/accessories. Trying to put one big mass of wiring/power/DI/wireless and chargers in a single, clean setup. Wife says wasting nice material and finish on a board on the floor, but hey, why not go in style.

On my bench for this winter :

Fender Mexican p bass neck
Squier body made of alder weighing 4.5 lbs, more than 20 years old
Fender pure vintage ‘63 pickups
Black pick guard from a Japanese Bacchus bass
Fender nickel rounds
And Wilkinson bridge with brass barrels

I will remove the paint and refinish natural with Tru-oil. This body resonates a lot when you knock on it so should be interesting……..

How many years has this plugging strip been laying on my workbench and getting in my way? I’m not really sure but I’m going to guess it’s somewhere around 12 years.

Yes, I inconvenienced myself for 12 years rather than take a few minutes to put four screws in the wall and hang it up under my small file racks.

How dumb was that, dear TB readers? Pretty freakin’ dumb. Today, that chapter of dumb has come to an end.

It’s amazing the things that we put off that inconvenience us over and over, but we could've fixed in a few minutes !

Stopped by a friends house tonight. He bought a bunch of stuff from a guy who purchased tools from a luthiers estate. The guy quickly realized that luthiery is much more difficult and wanted out.

As the pile of stuff grew, my friend decided to gift many of the dedicated luthiery tools to me. (He was mostly interested in the handful of pristine Stanley planes)

Full set of nut files, full set of templates for a telecaster, and several other tools....

Merry Christmas to me!

Finally installed some hardwood dowels in every holes as the bass had a hard time and screws were either stuck in place or very rusted. Use wood glue on tight holes and epoxy on damaged/oversized holes :
