What's the etiquette around here? Or, a sideways introduction...

Well...I've been lurking for a while, even bought a couple of basses on the BST...and I'm generally impressed and/or amused at the quality of the conversation. Having hung around other hobby/professional fora, I must say...musicians are much cooler than the bulk of random dimwits who congregate online. Seriously--I've seen sensitive subjects handled with intelligence, grace, and wit. Plenty of good-natured, puerile fun, too, but...hey, that's how it is in the band.

All that said, I always find it a bit awkward, entering into conversation in an established, familiar collective. I feel like the guy at the party standing off in the corner, occasionally blurting out something inappropriate. (Hey, wait...That's me...)

So, ladies, gentlemen, and all those who actively or passively defy categorization...How do the introductions begin? And is the hazing terribly uncomfortable?

Hi welcome. Blurting out things that are inappropriate hasn't gotten me banned yet, as long as you do in a spirit of love. ;)

Hahahaha. Thanks for elucidating, Matt. I thought it might be a South Park reference, but...didn't they cancel that in like 1999? ;) Here...I betray my age (about twice yours.) For me and my peers, Mysterion is either a reference to Link Removed, or Question Mark...

Nope, South Park has been running strong since it started in 1997!
Its currently in its 16th season. I dont watch it as often as I used to, though.

Kidding, kidding. I know it's still running, but I haven't had cable in ages, and haven't seen an episode in as long.

...As for hazing, Phalex will be around with his corncob soon enough. You have been warned.
Well, gee, that's awfully nice of him, but I'm not a pipe smoker. Oh, wait...

We're not musicians, we're bass players. And we have our share of random dimwits.

I've been here over 12 years and I still do that.

Anyway, welcome aboard! And don't believe anything anyone here says about me.
