Still iffy one one name, my '85 Washburn B2 I recently has repaired and modded I'm calling "grandpa". I think thats a good fit. My american standard jazz 3TB, tort pg is the classic rock look of the 60's I can't nail down, I usually refer to it as "zep" or "john Paul". (anybody got a better suggestion for that era )? And my black highway 1 jazz is simply "black dog". Never intended on a zeppelin theme but that's just the way it worked out. I'm in the market for a fender P and I was kind of looking at the Oly white, tort, RW and if that works out I'll definitely name it Elvis since that was his bass in the living room when he met the Beatles ( if that story is accurate).

I don't name my instruments.

I have two basses: "The red one" and "the black one." There are two sets of drums in our music room: "My drums" and "my wife's drums." I also have "the old synth" and "the new synth." The laptops, synths, and basses are plugged into "the amplifier."

Lame - I know. It's just easier that way. I have terrible memory. It'd be really bad to forget an instrument's name. And I'd totally forget them! So I just point and say something descriptive. Can't go wrong with that!

I have a Squier Jaguar. It's known as 'the squier'. I also have a Kawai Sleekline which is called 'the old one', and a Squier Jazz bass which has a quirky pickguard made from the laminated carboard packaging from a masterpiece Starscream model. That one's called Starscream.

I've owned a 4001 for about 15 years. I never named it since it was my only bass. Recently, I picked up a Jetglo 4003 and my singer promptly named it Blackie. Somehow, I started referring to my beat up, worn in 4001 as "Grandma".

My fender MM Jazz is named Jr. My upright is named Big Baby after the gun in Hell Boy.

Beauford. Simple alliteration with the word Bass. I was talking with my Daughter one day, and mentioned that I'd practice with Beauford, and it just kinda stuck.

Oh its not that it was mad at me.. It just ignored me.. It was a man in a long coat, with a scarf and a grey felt hat.. standing under a street light.

As siggy said, that P Bass would never belong to me.

I named my mid-late 80's Fender P "Badass" because it has a Badass II bridge on it and it looks and sounds Badass

Until I recently sold it I had another Fender P that I named "Chip" because within the first week I owned it I dropped it and a decent size chip of finish fell off.
