Without your love of a particular bass and it's sound, what is, from a design perspective, your favorite headstock?

3 on one side, 2 on the other, I guess. Smallish tuners and overall headstock size to help keep neck dive in check.

The opposite of this would be most Fender headstocks with their massive tuners and larger-than-necessary size, but I am fully aware this is probably a minority opinion and so await the slings and arrows of the Fender brigade..

Yup, it's a lefty Legacy Elite 5 with a bocote top! Lined fretless. I set that bass up for him and delivered it to him at NAMM a couple years ago.

The headstock doesn't stick out as far & causes the center of torque on the instrument to be more centered to your body.

I'd love to see a 5 string with a reverse headstock. Assuming a 35" scale neck, it would give you a 40"+ pull on the B string.

That would solve any 'floppiness' that could occur.

Then you make it a tiltback for more tension. Works great, but muscle memory rebels against the tuners.
