Talent can be pretty elusive at times. A talent pedal would be great to fill in when that happens, but I can't find one. Oh, well. A Rickenbacker 4005 at a price I can even think of paying is another one. I might love it, or I might hate it. There's no way to know because I have never seen one, let alone played one, but it's all about the looks. Even if it was a horrible bass to play and sounded awful, the visuals make up for it.

I have considered that one, believe me. 2 strikes against it, though; 1) the body is not quite symmetrical-although I could live with it if I had to, it would always look like a conversion; and 2) JC basses, IMO, are teetering on the edge of being semi-hollows, and I have enough of those. Again, though, I could live with it if I had to. And, have to say that oldleftybass did a superfine job on his. Like I said, I'm in no hurry, and it's fun to look..:)

I admittedly haven't been hunting too hard for these -- mostly because if I ever found them I'm not sure I could afford them! -- but my white whale list would definitely include:
- an original Curbow XT-33 6-string
- a circa 1993 Modulus Quantum-5 TBX
- a circa 1978 or later Alembic Series I 4-string w/ 32" medium scale and small standard body
- a circa 1968 (?) Vox Apollo IV in excellent condition

Bah, inside is for keeping basses, not sleeping! :roflmao: I hear ya though, ain't cheap. There's a 4 on there too, a bit cheaper, but still waaaay up there.

I had a 1980s Ibanez ST-980, their Studio series 32" scale length bolt-on neck 8-string. Pretty cool bass, though it weighed a metric crap-ton. They also made a Musician series 34" scale length neck-thru 8-string (I think the model # might have been MC-928?) which I've never seen in the flesh.

The very second band that I ever played in (circa 1977) I played guitar, and the bass player had one of those. I'm not a big fan of Mustangs, but I do love that color!

I got a cheapie transparent plexi P bass years back - sure looks cool, but they are heavy. And I mean, I'm ok with T-40s and Gibson RDs and other shoulder-groovers, but this thing surprised me. Haven't weighed it.

Keep an eye out for them. The SB-CB is the Korean one with the Peavey pickup. I picked mine up two years ago for $900. It was a 2009 but still had the plastic on. It came with a hard case and a wide strap. Since then I have installed a black Babicz bridge base and gold saddles. I will be putting gold Gotoh tuners to complete the "Black & Gold" look. The Babicz bridge really opened it up tonally, much like the old high mass bridges from the early eighties.

Mine was a birth-year Precision, a 1956.
I got it over ten years ago, though.

There are a few basses that I let get away, because they weren't right for what I was playing at the time, that I would like to have back now. But you can't predict the future.

Nowdays, there are unusual basses I'd like to own and I keep an eye out for, but nothing that I just HAVE to have.
