It already is the norm, they're everywhere, nothing unusual about them at all. IMO, I've never seen a woman who I thought looked better because she had a tatoo, I always think they'd look better without it...on guys it's different, I don't care.

When tattoos make you look ridiculous

It already is the norm, they're everywhere, nothing unusual about them at all. IMO, I've never seen a woman who I thought looked better because she had a tatoo, I always think they'd look better without it...on guys it's different, I don't care.
Well i was just going to watch this thing . But the Biker remark pissed me off. I am And most -if not all my friends are bikers. You would be hard pressed to find better more honest people. Maybe the reason we have lots of tats is we are secure in our self 's . Might be different for the WTB's but real bikers are REAL people . no faking your way through this life style.

We all need reminders under real pressure situations. A quick glance is a quick reminder that I cant let myself or others down. You might not understand unless a gun is pointed at you, or your getting jumped.

This actually makes no sense at all.
I think this posting has been taking a different direction. Yes everybody has their own opinion and sometimes critics are based on where you live, how you were raised and where you work.
I do respect people with tattoos that have a meaning. For example I met last weekend a firefighter from 9/11, and he has a nice memorial tattoo. This applies to anybody else in any other profession.
If you have a tattoo that says "i love satan", thats up to you. You have your beliefs, I am not going to judge you...well i might just a little bit.
As I said it's a stereotype. But not too many people understand this, even less business people. I met someone in HR and she says, if she meets somebody long hair, scruffy beard and a tattoo rolling down his arm, she knows is a no hire.
But I do and will have a tattoo, just to remind myself that I believe in something. What if one day I get into an accident and loose my memory. Well there you go I have some clues tattooed in my arm.

Where I work, they say tats must be "tasteful"...so I'm guessing as long as its not a flaming skull that says bad@$$, you're OK. A few people have small tats on their forearms and have gotten away with it. I guess it all depends on where you work. I do plan on getting some ink, all in places that can be easily covered if need be...nothing like Kat von D! I personally think it's BS to turn down someone w/ a tattoo and on the same lines as discriminating against someone because of race or sex, IMO.

Discrimination is discrimination reguardless of the form it takes... the United States was spawned from it as well as built on it.

People judge everybody. All the time. Each and everyone of you do it. DAILY. It's human nature.
You can rail against it all day long, but we DO judge people on a variety of things, knowingly or not, especially on their appearance.
Those that think that tats are really "cool" are judging the same way people that think they are low class and hideous.
So let's not try and suspend human nature on this issue. We all get judged on our appearance. That's reality of life, human beings, and every society that has ever existed and ever will exist.
You make judgments every day on how you do your hair, what you wear, whether you shave, shower, etc etc. Interacting with people and how you express yourself with grammar, the coherency of your thoughts, the expression of your thoughts are also things people will judge you on. THAT'S LIFE.
And there's not ONE person here with a straight face that can say "I never judge other people on anything! Ever!"

if they are the "norm" and "everywhere" why bother....when i was young they were usually for guys who wanted to step outside the norm......now kids who still live in moms basement are sporting thousands of dollars worth of ink....ill admit that most of the guys i used to ride with needed a little decorating......but generally speaking girls look good enough with the factory finish
The rude awakening will happen when tats are replaced by some fad we haven't even thought of yet, and will look ridiculously dated (like tribal tats already do).
"Hey, what do you think of my new Duran Duran concert T? I think I'll wear it FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE."

i think its pretty sad that people are still judged negatively for having tattoos.. its getting better but still i get some people looking at me as if im a lower life form.. i like to think that i look past what people look like and judge people by there actions.
i would like to live in a world where its acceptable for my bank manager to have full sleeves and my doctor to have neck tattoos.. its an opinion that is shared with a lot of people..
. i dont mind people not liking tattoos.. they arent for everyone.. i find its just another way of expressing myself. i dont claim to be mega orignal or a maverick... ive just always liked tattoos since i was a child. my girlfriend of six years also has tattoos.. i think they look awesome! we wont be getting his and hers tattoos though!

No Issues for me, forearm, leg and back are done. I do work for a music related company though that seems to be pretty open about people with a different look.
see my post above. When we reach a state in society when we don't judge others on their appearance or any other factor that they themselves can control, please drop me a line. Then I'll know that I accidently clicked my heels together and reached Oz.
So your fantasy world doesn't exist. But you can wish for whatever want. No one is stopping you.

I have a full sleeve and other very visible tattoos, and couldn't care less what people think. In fact, I live right outside NYC and work on Wall Street every day, and no one really cares. Even if they did, no one on Wall Street is in a position to make any moral judgments ;-)
As far as being able to get a job . . . I'm a partner in my business, so the ink doesn't matter. And no one really cares about it anyway. All people care about is if I can make them money.

im not saying it will happen... im saying i think it would be a good world to live in.. i dont mind people judging me but i do think its a bit lame that i might be judged negatively because of my body art
i really disagree with your opinion that tattoos are fads... your not into them, thats cool but a lot of people are into them in a big way and they are a big part of my life not just some fad... i consider tattoos a much bigger part of my life than religion and many other things that people seem to think its not right to be judged apon.

So why bother? Why not then deal in reality? And the reality is that people judge on appearance. Everyone. You included.

the Fleshy Part right about the Collar bone So when he put a Nice Shirt On it would look like it was peaking out of his shirt Last I heard he was having it removed he said it hurt getting on and he thinks he lost a few good job interviews becouse of it
He Got it when he was a rodie For The Joe Perry Project in the 80's so i'm sure he wasnt in the right mind when he got it but there is no way to cover it up
Another Guy I know he was at a party and Well cant rember the party and when he woke up he had a tattoo of a rose on his arm and he wasnt at the place where the party started so he has no idea what happen
Moral of the story if you get a tattoo be able to cover it up

Tell that to the tattooists I know doing more business now than they've ever been doing.
Though badly thought out/placed tats will obviously hold you back if you have certain ideas about what you want to do, but I still don't get how you all seem to think a totally covered up tattoo can in any way harm your job prospects. Do you all go to job interviews naked in the states?
